Ottawa
Ottawa, the capital of Canada, is worth a visit for its museums alone! The wonderful Museum of Canadian Civilization is a fantastic modern building with an excellent display of First Nation's art and gives a good insight into the early pioneering days. On top of this, the Parliament buildings, the Rideau Canal and the Governor's House are all well worth a visit.
Lord Elgin Hotel
Location: In the heart of downtown Ottawa. Description: A landmark hotel with lap pool with whirlpool, exercise room, sauna, restaurant and a patio bar as well as the ubiquitous Starbucks. Accommodation: 355 good size rooms with double and king size beds and windows. Why we like it: Good value in a great position.

Location: Downtown near the main attractions. Description: An all suite hotel with restaurant, fitness centre, hot tub and sauna. Accommodation: Studio and one bedroom units with kitchens. Why we like it: Good spacious family accommodation
Fairmont Chateau Laurier
Location: Downtown Ottawa overlooking the Rixeaux Canal. Description: A magnificent turreted building in the style of an elegant French chateau: Ottawa's premier hotel has restaurants and a bar, health club and indoor swimming pool, gift shops and 24-hour room service. Accommodation: Fairmont and deluxe rooms with Canal views plus the Fairmont Gold floor. Why we like it: A very comfortable hotel with good service.
