Location: Jonquiere near lac St. Jean. Description: A resort with masses of activities such as Hiking, bikes, sailing, white water rafting and tennis courts. Fishing and canoe expeditions can be organised in remote cottages north of the 50º parallel. Accommodation: Simple double rooms. Why we like it: brilliant for families.
Quebec: Gite du Mont Albert
Location: In the heart of the Parc de la Gaspesie. Description: A good looking hotel in beautiful countryside with a restaurant, swimming pool and sauna. Accommodation: 48 simple rooms and 19 cabins. Why we like it: Comfortable in a great location.
Quebec: Hotel La Normandie
Location: Percé, Gaspé. Description: In the heart of town and yet on the beach, this attractive and comfortable hotel has a restaurant and is ideally placed for whale watching and boat cruises to Percé Rock and Bonaventure Island. Accommodation: 45 rooms some with a view. Why we like it: with superb views over the rock.

Location: downtown Sudbury, Description: It has a swimming pool, exercise room and restaurant. Accommodation: Comfortable rooms most with 2 double beds. Why we like it: Conveniently close to the shops.
Ontario: Best Western Pembroke Inn
Location: Pembroke in the Ottawa Valley. Description: A 3.5* star hotel with a heated indoor pool, hot tub sauna, exercise room and dining room. Accommodation: Standard rooms with 2 double beds. Why we like it: easy access to rafting on the Ottawa River.

Location: Gore Bay, Manitoulin Island. Description: A relaxed country resort with a licensed waterfront patio and restaurant and access to a secluded beach, boating, golf and fishing. Accommodation: motel style rooms and cottages. Why we like it: In a beautiful position.
