Getting around
There are numerous options available for getting around this wonderful country, be it on land, sea or air, or even a combination of all three. Travelling by land, where time and distance permits, is a great way to take in the fabulous scenery and there is no doubt that the best way of all is from your own vehicle. Roads throughout the country are mainly wide, straight and well maintained, with signs in English and the laws of the road are easy to understand.
Car hire
We have negotiated some very competitive car hire rates for you - Thrifty has stations in most Canadian cities and towns. In some cases you can collect your car in one city and drop in another without charge; for instance between Montréal and Toronto and from Vancouver to Calgary is free. We will advise other charges at time of booking.

NB - For all rentals commencing in Calgary there is a £3 per day supplement NB - In July & August there is £51 per week & £12 per extra day supplement for rentals commencing in Banff or Jasper
The rates include: Unlimited mileage, taxes, Loss Damage Theft Waiver (LDW) - $250 deductible (21-24 years - $500 deductible), $1,000,000 Liability coverage, Premium Location Charge (PLC), first additional driver in addition to spouse or partner (same address), first tank of petrol and air conditioning where available. Minimum age is 21. Under 25s will be subject to a surcharge of $25 per day. A credit card will be required when you collect your vehicle. Optional Extras payable in Canada: Child safety seats and Ski Racks $10.00 a day (these must be booked in advance); GPS Units $9.99 (subject to availability at time of rental) Additional driver charge $10 a day. Protection Plus - Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) and Personal Effects Protection (PEP) @ $7.99 plus tax daily. Additional taxes/fees/surcharges may be imposed by Canadian authorities. We can also provide vehicles from Avis, National, Budget and Hertz however they are usually more expensive.
