FrontierCanada00-25 intros:FC_00-25_intros_v 4/1/08 15:14 Page 23 Cruises Frontier Canada Atlantic Canada and the North Cruise North A company wholly owned by the Inuit people and we like to support them for that reason. However, despite the feel good factor of supporting local people and local economy, we could not do so unless we felt they offered a good service. They do. They also offer some unusual routes to some phenomenal and inaccessible parts of the world which they know well having lived there for hundreds of years. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but you will meet some amazing people and with any luck at all, see a lot of wildlife including polar bears, walruses and the Beluga Whale. The cruise year starts in St. Johns Newfoundland on June 22nd with a splendid 11-night voyage up the west coast of the island, calling in at LAnse aux Meadows, the UNESCO world heritage site, several remote spots on the Labrador coast including the Torngat Mountains National Park Reserve and finishing in Kuujjuaq, the Inuit town in Nunavik. For July and first part of August, the ship will be sailing in and around Nunavik, the Hudson Strait and Baffin Island; she has a round trip voyage to Churchill in the Hudson Bay and then on August 16th she heads off up the Davies Strait to Resolute in the High Arctic from where on the 25th August she transits the fabled NorthWest Passage on a 7-day round trip cruise from Resolute. Prices: The price, including air fares from Montréal to the Arctic start at £2500 per person for sharing a main deck twin cabin on a 7-day cruise. Newfoundland Circumnavigation This extremely popular voyage is undertaken by several ships including the POLAR STAR. You will be able to follow the jagged coastline, visit the archaeological sites and embrace the lively music of the Newfoundlanders. All this will take place with a background of stunning autumnal colours. You will be visiting some tiny ports where you will be welcomed with open arms by some of Canada's friendliest people. You will also have the chance to see whales, birds and perhaps even an iceberg. We are already taking registrations for 2009 as many of the 2008 voyages are already full. Guide price: £1639 per person. www.frontier-canada.co.uk F 23
