Sleep in a hotel and take day trips onto the tundra, or for an even more unforgettable experience, sleep out on the ice in the Tundra Buggy Lodge; a combination of five buggies, providing accommodation and facilities interspersed with viewing platforms.Escorted tours provide a more personal way to see the bears, sometimes including time across the river from Churchill in one of the lodges. These tours are more expensive, but worth the money with their highly personalized service. The best time to see these majestic animals is from mid October - mid November. 1-day Weekend Polar Bear Special October to mid November Fly on the special Day Tripper' from Winnipeg to Churchill early on Saturday morning. Transfer straight to the Tundra Buggy for a full day's viewing. Return to Churchill at dusk for dinner and explore the town before departing for Winnipeg at 8:00pm.
