Wildlife Enthusiast Vancouver Island 12 nights
In 2006, Bill Oddie visited Vancouver Island and loved it. We have put together an itinerary following in his footsteps.
Port McNeill Hells Gate

Day 11 Tofino to Victoria Return across the island, being sure to stop at Cathedral Grove to see the vast Douglas Firs on the way to Victoria where you will spend 2 nights. Royal Scot Hotel/Laurel Point Inn/Fairmont Empress Day 12 Victoria Take a 3-hour whale watching tour to see the orca and other marine life (included) before lunch at one of the excellent restaurants around the Inner Harbour. Spend the afternoon exploring Victoria on foot perhaps visiting the Royal British Columbia Museum with its innovative displays of First Nation and early Canadian artefacts. Day 13 End of Tour Take the ferry back to Tsawwassen on the mainland from where it is only 30 minutes to the airport where you can drop your car prior to catching your flight home. Recommended extensions: Knight Inlet Lodge, Orca Camp. Great Bear Adventures. Price includes: 12 nights accommodation, tax, 3 hour whale watch in Victoria, 3 hour bear watch in Tofino and a 3 hour whale watch in Telegraph Cove. Car Hire not included.
Day 1 Vancouver Arrive into Vancouver International airport and make your own way downtown. Spend the next 2 nights exploring this fantastic city; be sure to see Gastown, Stanley Park and Granville Island. Century Plaza/Pacific Palisades/Four Seasons Day 3 Vancouver to Quadra Island Collect your car in downtown Vancouver and drive north to Horseshoe Bay to catch the 90 minute ferry to Nanaimo. Follow the Island Highway north to Campbell River where you will take a ferry to Quadra Island (total travelling time: around 6 hours). Spend the evening settling in and
discovering the joys of the island. Taku Lodge/April Point Day 4 Quadra Island Rent a kayak and paddle amongst the inlets, you might well see bald eagle, a seal and lots of sea birds. You can also swim with the salmon (Campbell River is the salmon capital of the world), white water raft or go fishing. Your catch can either be smoked or canned and sent home for you. Day 5 Quadra Island to Port Mcneil Head further north to Port McNeill in one of the prettiest, if least visited part of Vancouver Island, where you spend the next

3 nights. This will give you ample time to see the orca from Telegraph Cove, the Grizzly Bears at Knight Inlet (unless you have taken the option of staying at either Knight Inlet Lodge or Great Bear Adventures). A 3-hour whale watching tour is included in the cost of your holiday. Hidden Cove Lodge Day 8 Port Mcneil to Tofino A long drive today as you return down the Island Highway to Parksville and then head west across the mountains to Tofino. (6 hours). During your 3 days on the west coast of Vancouver Island you will be able to take a black bear watching tour (included).
