Stretching for miles, you will see acres of glorious scenery including those impossibly coloured lakes of all the pictures and, if lucky, lots of wildlife. You will be able to walk the hills, cruise the lakes and rivers, ride the trails and if a little more adventurous raft the white water rivers and hike the high alpine. All this activity requires good food and comfortable bed at the end of the day; these exist in abundance too. You will stay in either Banff or Lake Louise. Banff is a bustling town with a plethora of shops, restaurants, bar and attractions whilst Lake Louise is a much smaller and quieter place dominated by the lake and certainly right for you if you do not crave the bright lights. Description: Landmark hotel built in the style of a Scottish baronial castle, with 770 rooms, around 10 restaurants and bars, swimming pools, the award-winning Willow Stream Spa and a shopping arcade. Bowling, games, golf, mountain bike rental, tennis and horse riding are all on site. Renovated over the last few years, the Springs is very splendid place to stay. Accommodation: A huge variety of rooms from the Fairmont rooms suitable for 2 people to huge and lovely suites plus the Fairmont Gold Floor. Fairmont Deluxe rooms Junior suites are suitable for families or those wishing for a little more space. Why we like it: A grand hotel with unsurpassed facilities and a real sense of Canadian history. Banff: Buffalo Mountain Lodge Location: Set amongst the trees on Tunnel Mountain, above the town of Banff. Description: Romantic post and beam structure with high open ceilings, a real Canadian feel thanks to its custom made wooden furnishings, copper and glass light fixtures. The comfortable lounge has a huge fieldstone fireplace, and there is a renowned restaurant with a good wine list and the Cilantro coffee shop, indoor recreation area, steam room and outdoor hot tub. Accommodation: All the traditional rooms have wood burning fireplaces with either 1 king or 2 queen beds. The premier queen and king rooms have a sitting area plus a lovely bathroom with heated slate floor, walk-in shower and claw tub bath.
