Relais & Chateaux Location: overlooking the river in Lake Louise. Description: This exceptional hotel remains a Frontier favourite with many repeat guests. A haven of understated luxury, it includes the casual Outpost Pub, an awardwinning restaurant with a wine cellar of 30,500 bottles, and a lovely wood-panelled library, as well as indoor pool, hot tub, and steam room. Accommodation: The bedrooms, all with patios or balconies, are beautifully furnished in solid Canadian pine, and vary from comfortable double rooms to heavenly suites and cabins with fireplaces and king size beds. Wine Spectator, the authoritative wine magazine of North America, recently awarded the Post Hotel its highest honour - The "Grand Award". One of only four restaurants in Canada to achieve this recognition, which is regarded as the pinnacle of restaurant success worldwide. Why we like it: Quite simply because our guests think it's the best!
Lake Louise: Moraine Lake Lodge
Location: Nestled in the trees on the edge of Moraine Lake. Description: Unique, first class accommodation in a spectacular setting, open June 1st to October 4th. The rooms are well furnished with hand crafted log furniture and deep soaker tubs in the bathrooms. No TVs and telephones, but all have outdoor decks to gaze on the outstanding scenery. The lodge generates its own power and pays close attention to the environment. Every evening, when the day visitors leave the lake, guests have the area entirely to themselves. Local guides present interpretive shows highlighting the history, geology and geography of the Rockies. Accommodation: Some rooms in the lodge but the nicest are the cabins ranging along the lake shore with 1 king or 2 queen beds and a small sitting area. Why we like it: Outstanding staff and a great restaurant in environmentally sensitive accommodation.
