Further details of hotels featured can be found on our website. Grizzly Bear & Wildlife Watching Pyna-tee-ah Lodge, near Williams Lake. (2 nights) Set on the shore of the world's deepest fjord lake, and surrounded by the dramatic scenery of central British Columbia's Cariboo Mountains, the Pyna-Tee-Ah Lodge offers a perfect location for a true bear watching adventure! The area is rich in wildlife and the rivers and estuaries of Quesnel Lake teem with trout and sockeye salmon making it a haven for fishing. Day 1: Arrive at the Lodge by 12:00. After lunch Day 1 Vancouver to Kelowna (5 hours) An early start from Vancouver via Coquihalla Highway, will ensure your arrival is in time for lunch at Hainle Vineyards & Winery Bistro. Framed by the Okanagan hills and nestled at the base of a vineyard, this is the perfect place to start your Okanagan wine journey. Your second stop is at Greata Ranch Vineyards & Winery, where you can enjoy a refreshing glass of their award winning wine on the veranda overlooking Okanagan Lake. A further 15 minutes south, you'll arrive in Summerland for your overnight stay at Summerland Waterfront Resort. Tonight, we suggest you head to uptown Summerland and sample a selection of local VQA at a wine paired dinner at the Vanilla Pod Tapas Bar Restaurant. Day 2 Begin at Sumac Ridge Estate Winery for a tasting at one of the pioneer wineries of the B.C. wine industry. Your next stop in Summerland is Thornhaven Winery, situated in a quaint little valley overlooking Okanagan Lake. After passing through Penticton, you'll enter the Naramata Bench, home to 15 wineries with amazing vistas, views and vineyards along the way. Your lunch stop is at the Barrel Room Bistro at Hillside Estate Winery before heading to the Penticton Lakeside Resort. We suggest dinner at the west coast style Hooded Merganser which overlooks the water and a creative menu of locally grown produce is paired with Okanagan wines. Day 3 Today will take you to Canada's only desert region and the town of Osoyoos. Visit the See Ya Later Ranch Winery, originally planted as an orchard in the early part of the last century, with terrific wines, a fabulous view and a unique north-east facing vineyard. Lunch today is at the Toasted Oak Bar and Grill in Oliver, known as the Wine Capital of Canada. The Toasted Oak has a large selection of B.C. wines and a unique menu that features many local ingredients. We recommend two further tours this afternoon  the Burrowing Owl Winery, a sprawling estate winery that produces some of B.C.'s most sought after wines and the Tinhorn Creek Estate Winery, nestled in the hillside next to a former gold mining creek. This package includes power rafting, paddle Day 4 Today you will leave the Okanagan and head to the neighbouring relatively undeveloped Similkameen Valley, which has seen several new wineries and large vineyards in the last two years. On the shores of the Similkameen River, Forbidden Fruit Organic Winery may be your first opportunity to taste fruit wines including several white wines that are similar in taste to grape wines. Lunch should be at Crowsnest Vineyards where you can enjoy a German varietal wine and delicious cuisine paired to perfection on their vineyard side patio. From here you can either return to Vancouver or continue your holiday on towards the Rockies. In the spring, bear viewing is done by 4x4 vehicles or short hikes along the lowlands and the shores of Quesnel Lake. Day 2: After an early morning breakfast, you will set out on full-day excursion to the bear viewing area of Mitchell River. The estuaries of the Quesnel Watershed, in particular Mitchell River, are spawning grounds for Pacific sockeye salmon which in turn lure the mighty grizzly bears to its banks. In the spring time, early spring grass and sedges sprouting in the lowlands attract the bears to the lower elevations of Quesnel Lake where feed is plentiful for them after their long winter hibernation period. Other wildlife sightings may include: black bears, moose, beavers, otters, eagles, woodpeckers, blue herons and many more. Day 3: Departure after breakfast.
