Tyax Mountain Lake Resort
Location: On the shores of Tyaughton Lake, near Goldbridge 4.5 hours north of Whistler. Description: The largest log lodge in the west is the centrepiece of a wonderful wilderness resort offering a huge range of activities, both summer and winter, including: kayaking, sailing, wildlife trips with trained naturalists, walking, quad bikes and float plane trips. An expansive green lawn leads down to a sandy beach and on warm evenings you can join in a lakeside BBQ with campfire and singing cowboy. Accommodation: Lodge rooms have 2 double beds. If you are a bigger party the log chalets have several bedrooms, sitting room and kitchen. Prices: Resort room with a mountainview - £112 per room per night. Full Board option available. Child discount Under 12. Free Activities: canoes, rowboats, paddleboats, children's playground, children's pony, children's bikes, gold panning, interpretive nature trails, sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, fitness and recreation rooms, volleyball and tennis courts. Chilcotin Holidays operate year-round 4 or 7-day guided wilderness adventures throughout a 5,000 square km area, combined with guest ranch stays. The ranch is spacious, with huge fireplace, sun room, dining room, and cosy bedrooms (no private bathrooms). The Alpine Camps vary between fully equipped permanent base camps and seasonal camps. The permanent camps include different combinations of log cabins and/or tent cabins for eating and sleeping. Tent cabins consist of 10 x 12 "walk about" structures with raised floors. Some of the permanent camps are more developed, with gravity-fed showers, solar lighting and heaters in the tent cabins. Prices: Ranch Based price (4 days) - £1024 per person, Camp based price (7days) - £1564 per person Grizzly Viewing: Ride a sturdy Cayuse horse on trails travelled by bears through the mountains and open alpine feeding grounds, with excellent sighting and photographic opportunities. You will learn lots about the habits and habitats of the grizzly. Ranch based: (suitable for all levels) April - July 4-days departing Monday and Thursday £982.
