Description: This attractive hotel is also more than just a fishing lodge. The pretty hotel rooms and cabins  all with ocean views  are complemented by an excellent restaurant offering fresh seafood with spectacular views across Discovery Passage, a sushi bar and an Aveda Concept spa. Accommodation: Double or quad rooms, two bedroom suites, private cabins and fully furnished houses that have up to four bedrooms. Why we like it: Intimate resort with good access to water and wildlife. Free Activities: Tennis Courts at Painters Lodge. Paid for activities: kayaking, bike hire, zodiac rapid tour, seaplane and helicopter tours, whalewatching, fishing. Painters Lodge Location: On the waterfront just outside Campbell River. Description: Salmon fishing lodge, but an excellent place to stay in its own right with an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts. The marine wildlife tour by zodiac boat is excellent. A complimentary 10-minute water taxi across Discovery Passage takes you to April Point Resort and Spa. Why we like it: Comfortable resort with great fishing. Free Activities: Tennis Courts. Paid for activities: kayaking, bike hire, zodiac rapid tour, seaplane and helicopter tours, whalewatching, fishing and diving. Hidden Cove Lodge Location: between Telegraph Cove and Port McNeill. Description: semi-remote ocean front bed and breakfast with fabulous views. Accommodation: 8 fully accommodated rooms and licensed dining room. Dinner available on request. 2 self-catering cottages. Why we like it: A great position with excellent wildlife viewing opportunities nearby. Paid for activities locally: kayaking, whalewatching, bear-watching and diving. Kingfisher Resort & Spa Location: On the beachfront near Comox, Vancouver Island. Description: An adult oriented Beachside resort with restaurant and full service spa combine with year-round outdoor heated pool and large hot tub, cedar sauna, west coast steam cave and Oceanside fitness room. Accommodation: 64 oceanview rooms and beachfront suites with kitchenettes and living areas are attractively laid out with warm wood and soft colours. Why we like it: An excellent place to relax and a great beach. Taku Lodge Location: Quadra Island, near Campbell River. Description: Pretty beachfront resort with tennis and bocce court a games room with billiard table plus access to fishing, biking, kayaking and Desolation Sound Marine Park. Accommodation: Beachfront cabins and cottages. Why we like it: Relaxed family resort with lots of activities. Free Activities: Canoes, kayaks, basketball hoop, outdoor hot tub tennis courts. Paid for activities: Whalewatching, bike rental and diving.
