Seeing killer whales (orca) during the summer months is almost guaranteed. 3-hour trips by either a comfortable covered ocean cruiser or with the more exciting zodiac inflatable boats depart from the Inner Harbour and cost £48 A 4-hour sightseeing tour including the Butchart Gardens which are about 30 minutes outside town costs £35.

Coastal Rainforest Hike to the East Sooke Wilderness Park This hike is considered one of Canada's premiere day hikes. This exceptional trail features windswept pine, towering grand fir, giant cedar and the bark-shedding arbutus trees. There is also a chance to view ancient petroglyphs etched into the rocks by the areas native peoples of the past. The trail is about 6 miles. Daily departures. Duration 6 hours. Price: £55pp includes transportation from Victoria , naturalist guide, and lunch. Longer hiking trips available along the Juan Fuca Marine Trail and the famed West Coast Trail. Victoria/Sidney Sea-Kayak Tour to the Gulf Islands Launch in scenic Tsheum Harbour 30 minutes north of Victoria and warm-up the paddling muscles in protected waters. You then paddle to the many islands and coves in this beautiful Marine Park. Your knowledgable guide scans the shore for black mink and river otters and the tops of trees for eagles and herons. Seals rest on the rocks as you paddle to a sandy beach for a quick snack and to explore the shore. Daily departures: from Victoria at 09.00. Duration 4 hours.
