Days 1-2/Antigua Antigua is one of the best-preserved and most beautiful towns in the Americas, set deep in a valley dwarfed by three mighty volcanoes. Our local leader will show us the highlights of the town and lead us to the summit of one of the nearby volcanoes. Optional activities such as horseback riding, cycling and rafting are also on offer for the energetic. Days 3-5/Panajachel - Chichicastenango We travel to the pretty town of Panajachel in the Guatemalan Highlands. Set on the shores of Lake Atitilan, ringed by volcanoes, theres the chance to take an excursion around the lake to one of the outlying villages. Well visit Chichicastenango, one of Latin Americas most colourful markets, before returning to Antigua. Days 6-7/Copan Ruins We cross the border into Honduras and travel to the small town of Copan where we explore some spectacular Mayan ruins. Copan is also a great place for some optional activities including rafting, caving, tubing, horse riding and bike riding. Days 8-11/Roatan Island - Tegucigalpa The friendly Bay Islands is a Caribbean paradise where we can discover deserted, palm-fringed beaches with sparkling white sand. There is free time to relax, swim, dive and snorkel and in the evening we can enjoy the laid-back Caribbean nightlife. On our last day here we head to the capital, Tegucigalpa. Days 12-14/Granada We travel to Granada in Nicaragua and discover the charm of this colonial town on a city walking tour with our guide. Theres also time for optional activities such as hiking, boating or, for the adventurous, a day trip to Managua.
Days 15-16/Ometepe Island We cross Lake Nicaragua by ferryboat to Ometepe Island, an island created by two volcanoes that erupted from the lakebed. During our stay on this incredible island, we can hike volcanoes, go horseback riding or laze on isolated beaches. Days 17-18/San Jose We get an early start for the Costa Rican border and San Jose the beautiful National Theatre is a must see, and the city has some excellent museums waiting to be discovered. Days 19-20/Monteverde We head to the village of Monteverde. From here we discover the worldrenowned Monteverde Cloud Forest, home to hundreds of species of animals, birds and plants this is one of the worlds most outstanding wildlife refuges. We have the option here of taking to the giant sky walk, a series of suspension bridges in the canopy over 40 metres above the ground. Days 21-22/La Fortuna - Arenal Next stop is the town of La Fortuna, whose main attraction is the nearby Arenal Volcano. This active volcano is a spectacular sight, especially at night, as molten lava can often be seen flowing from the crater. During our stay we take a hike around the volcano and we can enjoy a dip at the beautiful Fortuna waterfalls.
Days 23-24/Cahuita National Park We head to the small town of Cahuita located on the Caribbean coastline in one of the most beautiful and scenic regions of Costa Rica. The white sandy beach lined with endless coconut trees and a calm sea of transparent waters is perfect for swimming and snorkelling. The National Park is abundant with a variety of wildlife including coatis, sloths, armadillos, iguanas, howler and capuchin monkeys and a host of other wildlife. Cancun Days 25-26/Puerto Viejo - San Jose The laid-back atmosphere and Caribbean lifestyle of Puerto Viejo is the Merida perfect place to unwind after your overland adventure. Long walks on Tulum pristine beaches, snorkelling or diving among the many reefs in crystal clear waters, world-class surfing and mountain biking are just some of the activities on offer. On our final day we return to San Jose where our adventure comes to an end.
