Days -2/Phnom Penh There are no activities planned our first day, so feel free to arrive at any time and start exploring Phnom Penh. On Day 2 we take a cyclo tour to the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. In the afternoon, we visit Tuol Sleng Prison Museum and the infamous Killing Fields of Choeung Ek sobering reminders of the terrifying rule of the Khmer Rouge, a sharp contrast with the happy, smiling faces of the Cambodian people of today. Days 3-5/Siem Reap - Angkor Temples After travelling north to Siem Reap, we drive out to Angkor Wat to watch the sun set over this extraordinary temple complex. Awe-inspiring Angkor has an extraordinary depth of beauty and grandeur that needs to be experienced to be understood. We have a full day to explore the Angkor temples with a guide, and an additional day for you to explore for yourself. You can take another trip to Angkor on your own, and perhaps visit the rose-coloured Banteay Srei Temple, famous for its intricate carvings. Siem Reap township is small but also worth a look, and is easily explored on foot. Day 6/Siem Reap Our tour ends in Siem Reap this morning.
Days -3/Siem Reap - Angkor Day 1 is a free day, so you may arrive in Siem Reap at any time. Then we have two full days to explore the many temples of Angkor. One day is spent with a guide, who can explain the history and importance of the various sections of this amazing complex. You also have a free day to further explore the areas you like best or just wander around the small but interesting township. Days 4-5/Phnom Penh We journey to the capital, Phnom Penh. Here, we visit grim reminders of the Khmer Rouge era the Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Prison Museum. Days 6-8/Kampot - Sihanoukville Travelling to the coast, we stop to climb up to the temple at Phnom Chisor before continuing to the charming town of Kampot and the resort of Sihanoukville, famous for its palm trees and white sandy beaches. We take a guided jungle trek in Ream National Park up to Meditation Mountain and a boat ride through mangrove estuaries and fishing villages. Days 9-0/Phnom Penh We return by road to Phnom Penh, where our Cambodian adventure finishes after breakfast on the morning of Day 10.
