Days 8-0/Udaipur In the morning we visit the Bishnoi (protectors of trees and animals) and Meghwa (weavers and potters) villagers, who live close to Jodhpur. We then head to Udaipur, the Venice of the East. This beautiful city, built around the shores of Lake Pichola, is full of temples, palaces and havelis. The exquisite setting of the Lake Palace on Jagwinas Island is unforgettable and other highlights include the Jagdish Temple and the City Palace. On the evening of Day 10 we catch the overnight sleeper train to Delhi. Day /Delhi We arrive back in Delhi early in the morning and explore this fascinating city by visiting both the old and new parts of town. Chandni Chowk is one of the oldest and busiest markets in the city, full of evocative and exotic shops and stalls, whilst Connaught Place, the commercial hub of New Delhi, is the place to catch the latest Bollywood movie! Day 2/Delhi Our trip ends today in the morning. Booking some post-tour accommodation is recommended, as there is much to see in Indias amazing capital.

Northern India is a land of magnificent architecture, colourful peoples and timeless beauty. From the hustle and bustle of Delhi, we travel through eastern Rajasthan to the majestic Taj Mahal, the exotic temples of Khajuraho and on to the spiritual heart of India Varanasi and the holy Ganges River.

Day /Delhi Your trip starts today in Delhi a great place to begin an Indian adventure. No activities are planned, so you can arrive at any time. Day 2/Agra - Taj Mahal We take the train to Agra. Indias most famous icon, the majestic Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his second wife. We visit this amazing 17th-century marble mausoleum and our leader will also give us the option of visiting Agra Fort. Day 3/Bharatpur We travel to Bharatpur to experience local rural village life far removed from the hustle and bustle of Indias busy cities. Bharatpur is home to the World Heritage-listed Keoladeo Ghana National Park bird sanctuary and it is worthwhile taking an optional bicycle rickshaw ride through the reserve. Days 4-5/Jaipur There is a lot to see in Jaipur, known as the pink city because of the colour of its buildings. We visit the stunning medieval Amber Fort and theres plenty of time to visit the Old City, the beautiful façade of the Palace of the Winds and the Johari Jewellery Bazaar. Day 6/Nimaj Bagh The real India is best discovered away from the big cities and popular monuments. In the morning we travel by local bus to Nimaj Bagh, where we wander through the village with its beautiful orchard and discover a traditional lifestyle that has changed little over the past centuries. Day 7/Jodhpur We travel by local jeep to the blue city of Jodhpur, located on the edge of the Thar Desert. Jodhpur is dominated by the imposing Meherangarh Fort, which sits atop a sheer rocky ridge that overlooks the town. We visit the fort, explore the walled city and wander around bustling Sadar Market.
Day /Delhi Our trip starts today in Delhi. No activities are planned, so you can arrive at any time. Days 2-3/Jaipur Our first stop is Jaipur, the vibrant capital of the state of Rajasthan. We visit the stunning medieval Amber Fort and there is also time to explore the Old City, the beautiful Palace of the Winds and the Johari Jewellery Bazaar. Days 4-5/Agra - Taj Mahal We drive to Agra, home to the magnificent Taj Mahal - perhaps the worlds greatest monument to love. We take plenty of time to absorb the splendour of this awe-inspiring mausoleum. Days 6-7/Orchha - Khajuraho We travel to Orchha where we spend a few hours exploring the temples and palaces of this beautiful oasis before heading to Khajuraho. The temples at Khajuraho are brilliant examples of medieval Indian architecture, famous for their Kamasutra style collection of erotic stone carvings. We spend the day exploring the exotic temples before chilling out in this very pleasant and laid-back town. Days 8-9/Varanasi In the morning we drive to Satna and board our train to Varanasi, arriving in the late afternoon. Varanasi is the oldest and holiest city in India. Sprawling along the banks of the Ganges, it is visited by millions of pilgrims every year and on an early morning boat ride, we watch life play out along the river as people pray, wash and cremate their dead. It is a confronting, moving and intimate insight into life and death in this amazing city. Day 0/Varanasi - Delhi

The morning is free to further explore Varanasi and its surroundings. In the evening we board the overnight train to Delhi. Days -2/Delhi We arrive back in Delhi early in the morning to explore this fascinating city. We visit Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Delhi, exploring the bustling narrow lanes and discovering the exotic produce of the small shops and stalls. We also visit Connaught Place the hub of the newer part of the city. Our trip ends the next morning.
