16 Days Nile & Sinai Odyssey incLUDEs aBU siMBEL After a relaxing sailboat trip along the Nile, we head to the warm waters of the Gulf of Aqaba where we can swim, snorkel, windsurf or just chill out. We also take in the highlights of the Nile valley and visit the stunning temples of Abu Simbel! n Cairo n The Pyramids & sPhinx n aswan n abu simbeL n 4-day feLuCCa Cruise n komombo TemPLe n Luxor n donkey Trek n The VaLLey of The kings n mT sinai n dahab Days 1-2/Cairo - Pyramids - Sphinx Our trip starts in Cairo. No activities are planned on Day 1 so you may arrive at any time. After a good nights sleep we travel out to the Giza plateau where our guide unravels the mysteries of the pyramids and Sphinx. In the evening we board the overnight train to Luxor. Days 3-4/Luxor We have a free day to explore this vibrant town. There is a lot to see and do, including optional visits to Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple  as well as browsing the celebrated bazaar. The following morning we cross the river and ride donkeys into the Valley of the Kings  a real trip highlight. Day 5/Luxor - Aswan An early start sees us on the road to Aswan where the evocative sight of dozens of felucca sails heralds this friendly southern city. In the afternoon we can explore the vibrant Nubian markets, check out the coffee shops, or enjoy a relaxing boat ride around the islands. Days 6-8/Abu Simbel - Felucca Cruise This morning we rise early for our visit to the awesome temples at Abu Simbel. We then set off onboard our feluccas and begin sailing towards Edfu where we visit the Temple of Horus. Our Nubian crew adds immensely to the fun, cooking all the meals and singing traditional songs. We visit the temple at Komombo and at night-time we pull up at the riverbank. Day 9/Luxor With sadness we farewell our Nubian friends and drive into Luxor where the afternoon is free for a final shopping spree before we board the night train back to Cairo. Days 10-11/Cairo - Sinai Arriving in Cairo, we have a free day to explore, and most will want to head over to the celebrated Khan el Khalili bazaar with its spice, gold and perfume markets. The next day we travel into the Sinai, an untamed wilderness of immense beauty, where we spend the night in a simple hostel. Day 12/Mt Sinai Ascent - Dahab We hike to the summit of Mt Sinai (2285m) to watch the sun rise over the southern end of the peninsula  a magical experience! Midmorning we drive to the beach town of Dahab where the rest of the day is free to unwind. Days 13-14/Dahab Dahab has an appealing, easygoing attitude and we have two free days to relax and rejuvenate  splash in the shallows, snorkel the reefs, try your hand at windsurfing or just settle in at one of the waterfront cafes. Days 15-16/Dahab - Cairo We drive back to Cairo for our final night and our trip ends the next morning after breakfast.
