Days 4-6/Nile Cruise - Luxor We board our riverboat and cruise north towards Luxor. The sunsets are brilliant and we have time to relax and enjoy our surroundings. We visit the Temple of Sobek at Komombo, and the Temple of Horus the falcon-headed God at Edfu. One evening we enjoy a fun night with Egyptian themes. In Luxor we cross the Nile to we meet our donkeys and then ride past fields of alfalfa into the Valley of the Kings. We also visit Karnak Temple and have time to check out the bazaar. Days 7-9/Baris - Al Kharga - Dakhla We meet our Bedouin crew and begin our five-day jeep safari! Driving to Baris Oasis, we spend our first night under the stars. We drive to Al Kharga Oasis and visit the Temple of Hibis and the fascinating mudbrick necropolis of Al Bagawat, which dates back to the 4th century AD. We continue to Dakhla, where we spend the night in a rustic camp and enjoy a great night of Bedouin music and dancing. In the morning, we explore the nearby sea of sand dunes by jeep, and then visit the medieval town of Al Qasr and the excellent Ethnographic Museum. In the afternoon we set off on our camel caravan, spending another fantastic night out in the remote desert. Day 10/Dakhla - White Desert Continuing north, we reach Farafra Oasis where we check out the museum and swim in one of the many natural springs, before entering the White Desert. We camp in this surreal landscape of wind-eroded limestone formations. Day 11/White Desert - Cairo We reach Bahariya, the last of the Western Desert oasis towns, and continue our journey into Cairo, where we farewell our new-found Bedouin friends. Day 12/Cairo Our trip ends in Cairo today after breakfast. Additional accommodation is available on request.
Nile Valley & Western Desert
The Nile Valley occupies less than ten percent of Egypt so its a shame to visit this country and not see something of the vast deserts. On this trip we enjoy a relaxing Nile cruise before looping out into the Western Desert to explore dramatic landscapes and oasis towns with our Bedouin crew.

Days 1-3/Cairo - Ancient Sites During our stay in Cairo we enjoy a guided visit to the superb Old Kingdom tombs at Sakkara and the ancient site of Memphis. At the Giza plateau we explore the pyramids and Sphinx and in the Egyptian Museum our guide unravels the mysteries of Ancient Egypt. On our third evening we board the night train to Aswan. Day 4/Aswan Aswan is full of charm and is very popular with travellers. It has a laid-back atmosphere and we have time to enjoy its special character. Theres time to check out the Nubian bazaar and we also enjoy a guided visit to the enchanting Temple of Isis at Philae Island. In the afternoon we take a relaxing sailboat trip around the islands. Days 5-7/Nile Cruise This morning we visit the amazing temples at Abu Simbel, returning around midday to commence our riverboat cruise. We visit the temples at Komombo and Edfu and one evening we enjoy a fun Egyptian theme night. The sunsets are superb and theres plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy our surroundings. In Luxor we take the local ferry across the Nile and then ride donkeys into the Valley of the Kings. We walk high above the Nile Valley with great views and then descend to visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. In the afternoon we explore Karnak Temple. Day 8/Luxor Today is free to relax or explore further. There is much to see and do in and around Luxor, and we also check out the extensive bazaar. In the evening we board the night train back to Cairo. Days 9-10/Cairo We arrive in the morning and have a full day to check out some of the other places of interest. Many will want to head off to the fabulous Khan el Khalili bazaar or explore the older parts of Cairo. Our trip ends the following morning after breakfast. Days 1-2/Cairo - Pyramids - Sphinx Our trip starts in bustling Cairo. With our guide, we visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, with its amazing collection of statues and other artefacts. We then head out to the Giza plateau to visit the pyramids, Sphinx and the intriguing Valley Temple. In the evening we take the overnight train to Aswan. Day 3/Aswan - Abu Simbel Aswan is a friendly, welcoming city where felucca sailboats drift lazily around the many islands. While here we visit the amazing temple complex at Abu Simbel and the rest of our time is free to explore the bazaar, stroll along the waterfront or make an optional visit to the exquisite Temple of Isis at Philae.
