F rom the foothills of Ben Nevis up to Inverness and the North Sea, the Caledonian Canal passes through the forested slopes of the breathtaking Great Glen linking the Highlands most beautiful freshwater Lochs  Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and the legendary Loch Ness. The Union canal starts in the majestic city of Edinburgh which spreads out beneath its impressive castle. It passes over three spectacular aqeducts to Falkirk, where the famous wheel connects it to the Forth and Clyde canal which reaches Glasgow and the Clyde.Youll pass close to the Roman fort at Roughcastle and the best preserved section of the Antonine Wall, which once formed the boundary of Roman Britain. 126
