Costa Blanca
The sunniest and healthiest climate in Europe
Stretching from Valencia in the north to Alicante in the South, the Costa Blanca's centrepiece is the huge resort of Benidorm, which is fun to visit and has been much improved in recent years. Elsewhere, the coastline is relatively undeveloped and infinitely more relaxing, with smaller resorts and pretty towns interspersed with sandy beaches and fishing ports, against a backdrop of dramatic mountains. Blessed with a perfect climate (reputed to be the best in Europe) this is an ideal area for a relaxing villa holiday close to the beach.
Attractions
Valencia is about 75 min drive to the North and is well worth visiting. With many fine museums, superb shops and a beautiful cathedral, it is Spain's third largest city and has been superbly regenerated in recent years. Alicante is a similar distance to the south and is a charming provincial city, with a fascinating castle and stunning seaside promenade as well as a fine beach. A little further afield, the palm forest at Elche and the roman ruins at Sagunto also make interesting days out.
Landscape and Resorts
Inland, the scenery is mountainous but lush, filled with orange and almond groves and dotted with pretty and dramatic villages such as Guadalest and Xativa. The coastline boasts many fine beaches: the largest ones are ironically in the biggest resorts of Benidorm and Calpe, but virtually every town and resort on the coast also has one. Our two main resorts are Javea and Moraira. Dominated by Montgo mountain, Javea has three distinct sectors: the pretty old town which is 3 km inland, the charming port area with its shops, bars and superb seafood and paella restaurants, and the lively beach area, backed by hills dotted with villas. Most of our villas are in residential country areas a few kilometres from the resort itself. A little further South, Moraira is smaller and a little quieter, with 2 sandy beaches, a marina and an attractive centre. This area is very residential and relaxing, but with every amenity close at hand. Just 3 km from Moraira are several unspoiled coves in the Fustera area.
Food and Wine
This region is the home of Paella. Special rice is grown near Valencia and when cooked with saffron with either seafood, meat or a mixture of both, it tastes better here than almost anywhere else. You will find it in almost every restaurant but the freshly caught fish is simpler and equally delicious when served with a chilled white wine.
How to get there
Both Valencia and Alicante airports have many direct flights each day from most UK airports, including low-cost, scheduled and charter flights. All resorts are within 75 min drive of either airport. Alternatively, the Costa Blanca is popular with people who choose to drive down through France the journey takes approx. 24 hours.
