This lovely property has a feeling of space and tranquillity, making one inclined to relax and go no further! But trips out are a must - Beaune with its famous 'hospices', the vineyards at Nuits St. Georges, the lovely city of Dijon and splendid scenery of the Jura are all at hand.
The abbey of Citeaux, the very first Cistercian abbey, is close by, and St. Jean-deLosne itself is the largest inland waterway pleasure-boat centre in France. This is a beautifully renovated and tastefully furnished 17th-century listed building. Some of the earliest features have been preserved, such as the fine old floor tiles, the great fireplace and the high beamed ceilings in the bright and spacious sitting room. Outside, there are nearly 50 acres of grounds to explore and early risers may well see the occasional deer. In front of the house is a wide, open grassy expanse of ground, with the swimming pool on the one side (about 100m from the house) and woodland on the other. Beyond that, about 500m away, is a large pond. The adjoining house is an 18th-century property where the owners spend an occasional short holiday, in which case the grounds, pool and tennis court would be shared with them.
