Now it is the 2nd largest city in Russia after Moscow. It is one of the most elegant cities in Europe with its famous palaces such as Peterhof and Pushkin, world class ballet and opera in the Mariinsky Theatre and one of the world's largest art museums in the world famous Hermitage.
