itiNerary... Day 1 antananarivo Affectionately known as Tana, this European-inspired city has a distinctly romantic air about it. Day 2 antsirabe Take in breathtaking mountain scenery *plus Local Payment EU¬300

on the way to Antsirabe, famed for its healing thermal springs, gemstone merchants and elegant French architecture. Take a pousse-pousse (rickshaw) to explore, before heading to the village of Manandona for an insight into local culture on a homestay. Day 3 ranomafana The village of Ambositra is renowned for its fine woodcarvings. Travel to the magnificent rainforests of the Ranomafana Lemur Reserve for a guided night time trek. Look sharp to see some of this islands most famous creatures, including rare golden bamboo lemurs. Day 4 Fianarantsoa Listen out for a lemurs screeching call on an early morning hike through the jungle. Afterwards, journey south to the plantations of Sahambavy to see how tea leaves are turned into a humble cuppa. Days 5-6 isalo National Park Learn the traditional method of making paper in Ambalavao. Pass the impressive rocks that make up the door to the south before entering the Isalo National Park, home to ring-tail lemurs and chameleons as well as a series of whimsical, weather-worn sandstone formations. Theres a natural pool here where you can cool off after a hike through the canyons. Days 7-8 ifaty Inspect the intricate tombs of the Mahafaly tribe on the way to the idyllic beaches of Ifaty. Theres time today to kick back on the white sands, snorkel or wander the surreal spiny forests nearby. Day 9 antananarivo Return to Tana by plane.

Departs daily itiNerary... Day 1 kampala A modern city, Kampala is developing rapidly after years of turbulence. Theres free time to kick back in at a friendly watering hole or to browse in the local markets. Days 2-4 Gorilla trek The journey south-west goes through Mbarara, home of the impressive Ankole Longhorn cattle,

and on to cultivated hillside terraces. The thick jungle in this region is one of the last remaining sanctuaries of the mountain gorilla. Be challenged by a long trek across sprawling undergrowth and over bamboo-covered slopes - but dont worry, fatigue will magically disappear with that first glimpse of a magnificent gorilla. On the final day, set out on an early morning walk through thick forest and past the Munyaga Waterfalls to catch sight of some of the regions many birds and monkeys. Days 5-6 Queen elizabeth National Park A cruise along the Kazinga Channel offers a close look at hippos wallowing in the mud. Enjoy a game drive through the park in search of elephants, buffaloes, leopards and lions. Afterwards, appreciate the wild beauty of the area from Baboon Cliff, before heading to the captivating landscape of the crater lakes. Created by volcanic activity thousands of years ago, these bodies of water attract hundreds of different species of birds. Day 7 kampala Brush past dangling vines in Kyambura Gorge and listen for the chatter of chimpanzees over the roar of the river. A cacophony overhead usually signifies the presence of these cheeky creatures. Giant forest hogs may also be spotted among the dense foliage. Later, travel back to Kampala.
