Day 2 kisii Travel westward across the breathtakingly beautiful landscape of the Great Rift Valley to Kenyas fertile *plus Local Payment US$165 *plus Park/Permit fees US$150 Physical culture shock highlands. Stock up on essentials in hilltop Kisii - this is the last stop before journeying into the wilds. Day 3 lake Victoria Put tastebuds to the test at a tea plantation and learn how humble green leaves are turned into fragrant blends. Camp on the remote shores of one of the worlds largest lakes and experience its untamed wilderness. Days 4-5 serengeti National Park Undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, the Serengeti National Park is a haven for African animals. Embark on early morning and late afternoon game viewing safaris through its savannah grasslands and hope to see cheetahs, leopards or gazelles. Safe and sound in a tent, drift off to sleep with the sounds of nocturnal animals in your ears. Day 6 Ngorongoro crater Birthplace of human ancestors, Olduvai Gorge is an interesting place to explore. Continuing to the campsite on Ngorongoro Craters edge, stop to admire the stunning sight of rolling grasslands thousands of metres below - few camps in the world have a view better than this. Day 7 Mto Wa Mbu Take a 4WD into the crater to catch sight of the prolific wildlife, including elephants, rhinos and lions. Camp in the market village of Mto Wa Mbu and maybe bargain for some ebony Makonde carvings or brightly-coloured Tanzanian fabrics. Day 8 Nairobi Travel across open plains and through Arusha, a beautifully-situated town, on return to Nairobi. Day 1 Nairobi The journey begins in Kenyas multicultural capital, brimming with colourful markets, restaurants and bars. Day 2 lake Nakuru Spend the morning at a rural school *plus Local Payment US$125 *plus Park/Permit fees US$180 Physical culture shock on the outskirts of Nairobi before pitching tents within the park at Lake Nakuru and heading out on an afternoon game-viewing drive. Fringed by beautiful acacia trees, the lake shimmers pink throughout the year as hundreds of flamingos descend upon it. The savannah area of the park also boasts a wide variety of animals including giraffes, rhinos and lions. Excitingly, this is one of the best places to see leopards. Days 3-4 lake Naivasha Travel on to another birdwatchers paradise, Lake Naivasha, ringed by flattopped acacias. Its possible to spend free time here cruising the lake to spot hippos or trek out into Hells Gate National Park to explore its dramatic caves and gorges, or simply relax in the beautiful lakeside surroundings. Day 5 loita hills Travel across the Great Rift Valley floor to the Loita Hills, right in the heart of Masai country. Tonight, camp among these friendly, semi-nomadic tribespeople and learn about their fascinating culture. Days 6-7 Masai Mara The worldrenowned Masai Mara Reserve is a huge area of woodlands and open plains, backed by the striking Esoit Oloololo Escarpment. The region is littered with wildlife and safaris through the park might uncover prides of lions, herds of elephants and maybe even a stealthy cheetah. In the rainy season this area is flooded by over a million braying wildebeest on their annual migration.
