Day 16 Zhouzhuang Cobblestone streets, charming stone bridges and tiny canals lined with Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture make this town a photographers paradise. Days 17-18 suzhou Discover gardens and relaxing teahouses in this beautiful water town. Cycle along the canals, learn the history of silk or catch a local opera performance. Days 19-21 Xi'an With thousands of years of history, Xian houses countless ancient treasures, the most famous of which is the army of Terracotta Warriors. Days 22-23 Pingyao Step back in time among the traditional courtyard houses of the walled city of Pingyao. Days 24-25 Datong Visit the striking Yungang Grottoes which house some 51,000 Buddha statues. Days 26-28 Beijing Return to city life and discover the majestic sights of Beijing - the Great Wall, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.

Day 3 Nanjing The palace ruins, city gates and historic Drum and Bell Towers of Nanjing are reminders of its glorious Ming past. Visit Sun Yat Sens mausoleum, the Nanjing Museum and Memorial Hall, which commemorates the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. See it all and get a sense of days of old. Days 4-6 yangzi river Sit back and experience the evolving scenery of the Yangzi River on a boat journey through the massive Three Gorges. Take a side trip on a smaller boat down one of the Yangzis picturesque tributaries and get a glimpse of a river that is essential to the lives of millions of people. Days 7-9 Xi'an This ancient capital and starting point of the Silk Road is also home to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of our time - the life-size army of Terracotta Warriors. Marvel at these 2,200 year old ceramic soldiers. Day 10 Beijing Step back in time and wander in the footsteps of former emperors in the vast Forbidden City. Days 11-12 Great Wall Explore the ultimate Chinese icon, the inspiring Great Wall, and get a feel for the long history of this ancient kingdom. Wander along remote sections of the wall and sleep in a simple guesthouse along the way. Days 13-14 Beijing Take a walk among the people in Tiananmen Square and explore the energetic back-street hutongs of bustling Beijing.
