Days 5-7 yarkand/kashgar Journey to the edge of the Taklamakan Desert on the way to Yarkand, a 1,000 year old resting spot for Silk Road travellers to stay the night. Absorb the character of Muslim Xinjiang. Wander the narrow bazaars of the Uyghur quarter or arrange a camel ride out into the dusty desert before returning to Kashgar.
