The monkey temple of Swayambhunath is well worth a visit, as are the street markets and old world Durbar Square. *plus Local Payment US$300 Physical culture shock Day 2 Bandipur Friendly locals are ready to chat and guide you on walks in the countryside surrounding Bandipur, where youll get a first glimpse of the breathtaking Annapurna ranges. Days 3-19 annapurna circuit By day, trek through rugged mountain scenery. At night relax in cosy teahouses where simple but filling meals sustain your hiking efforts. Cross icy rivers, traverse broad plains and climb mountain passes to complete a loop around the Annapurna ranges. Say hello to yak and goat herders tending their animals on grassy fields and visit remote mountain monasteries to soak up Nepali culture and traditions. Stop often to look at the vistas and acclimatise to the dramatic altitudes. Youll hardly believe such beauty can be real. Cross Thorung La Pass, the highest on this trip at 5,416 m, and take a moment to revel in the adrenaline rush that comes with such an enjoyable exertion. Day 20 Pokhara Exhilarated and ready to celebrate, its time to hop on a bus and travel to the lovely town of Pokhara. This is the perfect base to rest weary limbs, contemplate a tremendous achievement and enjoy the mountain views from one of the many lakeside cafes. Days 21-22 kathmandu Returning to Kathmandu, there is time to continue sightseeing or do some last minute shopping. Days 11-12 orchha By the banks of the Betwa River sits Orchha, a historical masterpiece of stone temples and palaces. Explore the grand stone buildings untouched by modern life and scattered across the countryside. Day 13 agra Visit one of the finest monuments ever constructed, the Taj Mahal. The teardrop on the face of eternity was built as a memorial for Mughal Emperor Shah Jahans wife.
