Day 1 havana In a world of colonial buildings, elegant plazas, vintage cars and cigar-smoking musicians, the best way to explore is by foot. Visit the Plaza de la Revolucion and pass giant monuments to legends Che Guevara and Jose Marti. La Catedral San Cristobal de la Habana, described as music set in stone, is a must-see. Days 2-3 Vinales Tour the vibrant orchid gardens of Soroa en route to Vinales, a charming rural village. One of Cubas most attractive areas, the fertile valleys and distinctive limestone pin-cushion hills of the region are well worth exploring. Mingle with the friendly Vinales locals and dance the night away. Day 4 cienfuegos This important port has many sights clustered around Parque Jose Marti, including the Casa de la Cultura Benjamin Duarte, where its possible to climb a tower for stunning coastal views. Visit the Palacio del Valle, the architectural pride of Cienfuegos. Why not make a point to try some of Cubas excellent coffee here? Its strong, black and super-sweet. Days 5-6 trinidad Take some time to explore the great Spanish-style churches of Trinidad on the way to Playa Ancon, a white sandy beach where many hours will no doubt slip lazily by. Don a snorkel to take a peek at Cubas underwater world or hire a bike for a relaxing pedal around town. See an Afro-Cuban folklore show in the evening. Days 7-8 havana Stop in at Santa Clara to visit the Che Guevara mausoleum and memorial to learn about Ches amazing life - be sure to see the impressive bronze statue of him bearing his rifle. Day 1 havana Discover pirate and colonial histories in this port city. Day 2 soroa/Vinales Explore the orchid garden or climb to an impressive lookout with excellent views over the countryside. Then, its onto Vinales to stay with a local family. Day 3 Pons Cycle from Vinales to Pons before continuing on to meet a peasant family to see how rural Cubans live. Later, try out the optional San Vincente mud masks, mineral baths or massage services for ultimate relaxation. Day 4 Vinales Valley/ cayo levisa Bike towards Cayo Levisa and enjoy a boat ride to the island, followed by a seafood lunch and free time to snorkel or chill-out. Days 5-6 san Diego de los Banos/havana Rest weary legs with a dip in hot springs then return to Havana to enjoy a homestay with a local family. Days 7-8 cienfuegos Optional activities abound here - try scuba diving or kayaking.
