town. Days 2-3 Parati At high tide, the charming cobblestone pedestrian-only streets of Parati become partially covered in sea water. The bay is perfect for swimming, and the surrounding national parks are filled with trails just begging to be explored. Days 4-6 iguazu Falls The name of these falls means Great Waters in the Tupi-Guarani tongue, and they are indeed massive. View them from the Brazilian side for grand panoramas and the Argentinean side to get close to the thundering waters. Days 7-8 Buenos aires Its easy to see why the Portenos are so proud of their city. There is a weekend market in San Telmo, lots of interesting museums in Recoleta and historic buildings aplenty in the Plaza de Mayo. Days 9-10 Bariloche In a region of lakes and mountains, try hiking, biking and skiing. Another attraction is the food. Menus boast fresh salmon, lake trout and amazing Argentinean beef steak, with fine chocolates for dessert. Days 11-12 Puerto Varas Travel across the Andes and explore the forests, glaciers, lakes and mountains in Puerto Varas. Take an optional day tour to Chiloe Island or go for a hike through the hills surrounding Orsono Volcano. Days 13-15 santiago Spend a day tantalising the tastebuds with a winery tour. Learn about Chiles wine-making history, sampling crisp whites and robust reds. Spend time exploring Santiago, radiating from the Plaza de Armas or take a cable car up to Cerro San Cristobal for amazing vistas across the city.

the gardens and enjoy the panoramic views. Days 4-6 Pucon Set at the foot of the active Volcan Villarrica, Pucon is every outdoors fanatics dreamland. With the black sand beaches of Lago Villarrica beckoning on this stop in the Chilean lake district, the real attraction is the myriad adventure sports available. Days 7-8 Puerto Varas Snow-capped mountains, deep blue lakes, smoking volcanoes, forests and glaciers make up the scenery around Puerto Varas on the shores of Lago Llanquihue. See the Middle Eastern-style architecture and mingle with the friendly local community. Chillingout is the order of the day or take a day tour to Chiloe Island on the lake. Days 9-11 Bariloche Travel through the Andes and into this beautiful lake district, with its many great hotels, restaurants and chocolate shops among the little chalets and wooden buildings. There are lots of hiking options in the nearby national park, boat trips on the lake, skiing in the winter, swimming in the summer - and plenty of free time to enjoy it all. Days 12-13 Buenos aires Wander the cobblestone streets of Buenos Aires, talk football in a local cafe or visit the quirky Museo Evita to make up your mind about Eva Peron: saint or tyrant? The hippest spot in town is the Plaza Serrano, so head here in the evenings to soak up the party atmosphere. Seek out a milonga to experience the fiery tango and brush up on your Latin grooves.
