itiNerary... Days 1-2 Mexico city Explore the heart of this city and discover its many amazing murals. Days 3-4 Puebla Bargain hard at the markets or hike through stunning volcanic scenery. Days 5-6 oaxaca From the worm in the mezcal bottle to chocolate covered grasshoppers, eating in Oaxaca is an adventure. Days 7-8 san cristobal de las casas Journey into a different world, from the steamy lowlands to the sparkling Chiapas highlands. Days 9-10 Palenque The riotous wildlife and thick jungle here are almost as impressive as the ruins. Days 11-12 Merida Step back in time with a tour in a horse-drawn caleche or explore the ruins of Uxmal. Days 13-17 Playa del carmen Clamber up the huge steps of Chichen Itza or get in some quality beach time in Playa del Carmen. Days 18-19 caye caulker Swim, dive or just chill on the beach of this friendly island paradise. Days 20-21 san ignacio Jungle fun is the order of the day, get into the many outdoor activities. Days 22-23 Flores/tikal Enjoy a slice of island life on Lake Peten Itza. Dont miss the ruins of Tikal. Days 24-25 rio Dulce Explore a rubber plantation or go boating on the lake. Day 26 antigua Be charmed by this gorgeous town with its quaint cobblestone streets. Days 27-28 chichicastenango/Panajachel Pick up a traditional weaving or medicinal plants at the famous markets of Chichicastenango. Days 29-30 antigua Watch plumes of smoke coming from the impressive Pacaya Volcano. Days 31-32 copan Stroll around these well-preserved ruins and try to solve the mystery of this long-abandoned Mayan city. Days 33-35 utila island Swim, dive or snorkel in balmy Caribbean waters. Day 36 comayagua Swap island life for the charm of Honduras old capital. Days 37-38 Granada Explore the beautiful colonial buildings and wild volcanic surroundings of Nicaraguas oldest city. Days 39-40 ometepe island This island, sitting slap bang in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, has it all. Days 41-42 Monteverde Enjoy the cool rainforest and go bird-watching, mountain biking or take a canopy walk. Days 43-44 la Fortuna These hot springs present a difficult decision - the Baldi has a swim-up bar, and the Tabacon has 12 pools and a waterslide. Tough call. Days 45-46 san Jose Hang out in the plaza for a final look at vibrant Central American life.
