The pine forests of southwest Skopelos, now thankfully preserved, provide an idyllic setting for this lovely, villa. Situated on a hillside overlooking a wooded valley with the Aegean below framed by the islands of Dassia, Skiathos and Evia, the house, stone built in the traditional island style with its spacious terrace and swimming pool is the perfect holiday retreat. On the ground floor the main lounge and living area has a feature fireplace built out of local stone, and wide windows looking out past the pool to the sea and islands beyond. Leading off the lounge is a separate well equipped kitchen and dining area, a twin bedded room with en suite shower room, and a useful small laundry room with washing machine. The stairs lead to a galleried wooden landing and the master double bedroom with en suite facilities. Gained from the lounge through French doors is a delightful shaded patio, roofed with the same authentic ochre pantiles as the main house, with a built-in barbecue close by. The swimming pool is set into a spacious tiled terrace with plenty of room for relaxing on the sun loungers and drinking in that breathtaking view. Ditropon, is a typical Skopelos rural settlement set amongst the fields and orchards that have been farmed by the same families for generations. Its location means that the fabulous beaches at Panormos and Milia are only a short drive away. By contrast the dramatic West coast of the island is also easily reached. Here goats graze on the wild thyme and rosemary, amidst rugged cliff scenery. Skopelos Town and historic Glossa with their wider selection of shops and restaurants are only 20 minutes' away in the car, but you may find it hard to drag yourself away from this delightful villa and view!
