India Worldwide Taj Mahal Highlights of India 8 days from £1469 India is a country that should be on every travellers list. For those of you seeking all the excitement of this fascinating land we are offering a special eight day tour of some of the countrys highlights. Experience the historic grandeur of Delhi, the spectacular and unique Taj Mahal in Agra and the colourful and exotic city of Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan. Full sightseeing is included and accommodation is on a half board basis, offering wonderful value. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Meet your travelling companions in the executive lounge prior to your scheduled flight to Delhi. DAY 2 - Your arrival in Delhi will be in the early hours of Day 2. Transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. New Delhi is a spacious open imperial city created by the British as the capital of India in 1911. By contrast Old Delhi, once the province of Mogul Emperor Shah Jehan, is a 17th century walled city with gates, narrow alleys the enormous Red Fort, temples, mosques and bazaars. This morning we include a sightseeing tour of New Delhi. You will visit Humayans Tomb and Qtub Minar, one of the most perfect towers in the world. This afternoon we have a half day included sightseeing tour of Old Delhi including a rickshaw ride. You will visit the Red Fort, Jami Masjid Mosque and the Raj Ghat, the cremation grounds of Mahatma Gandhi. Also included is a drive through the street bazaar of Chandni Chowk. This evening dinner will be at a local restaurant, including a cultural dance show with welcome drink. DAY 3 - Morning drive to Agra and a visit to Agra Fort to see the exquisite Chowk Pearl Mosque and Jasmine Tower. You then continue for an early evening visit to the famous Taj Mahal, a magnificent mausoleum built by the Emperor Shah Jehan for his wife. Your first sight will be at sunset situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, twenty thousand men took twenty years to complete the worlds most extravagant and beautiful expression of one mans love for a woman.Two nights accommodation has been arranged for you in Agra. DAY 4 - Morning excursion to the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, home to hundreds of bird species, including a rickshaw ride through the park. Lunch is included today. DAY 5 - Early start for your second visit to the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Return to your hotel for breakfast. Continue on to Jaipur; en route visit Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted red sandstone city built by the Emperor Akbar as his capital. On arrival in Jaipur transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. All the buildings are painted pink by Maharajas decree. DAY 6 - Morning excursion to the spectacular Amber Fort, home of the royal family of Jaipur for centuries. A highlight of this tour is the ascent to the inner fort by jeep. You will also see the City Palace and Hawe Mahal (Palace of the Winds). This evening we have included a farewell dinner before your transfer to the airport. DAY 8 - Early morning flight to the UK. Your arrival is later the same day. YOUR HOTELS You will stay in hotels such as the Radisson in New Delhi, Jaypee Palace Hotel in Agra and the Trident Hilton or Meridien Hotel in Jaipur.
