Come with us to the enchanting island of Ischia, the largest and possibly most beautiful of the volcanic islands rising serenely from the sparkling sea in the Bay of Naples. The mountainous interior rises up behind the attractive beaches and stunning coastline.
The rounded hills are richly covered in vegetation, including cool forests and terraced vineyards. Sandwiched between the hills and the sea are clusters of small villages, busy fishing ports and charming bays. Dominating the island is Monte Epomeo, a now dormant volcano. Stretching along the north of the island, Ischias main town is divided into two sections; Ischia Porto and Ischia Ponte. This fabulous holiday offers a chance to explore the islands glorious scenery, pretty gardens and charming towns. You can relax in your resort and perhaps taste the delicious local wines, enjoy a thermal bath and visit the lovely island of Capri. DAY 8 - Return to Naples by ferry and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. You will stay at the four star Hotel Hermitage, overlooking the Bay of Ischia, ideally located between the main harbour and Aragonese castle. Situated just a few minutes walk to the beach, the hotel is surrounded by greenery in its own gardens. The hotel has air-conditioning, restaurant, bar, lounge, lift, outdoor swimming pool with sun terrace and a Wellness Centre with thermal pool and spa treatments (at extra cost). All bedrooms have private facilities, satellite TV, telephone and hairdryer.
YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1 - Meet your travelling companions at the airport and depart on your scheduled flight to Naples and then take the ferry for the 1 hour journey to Ischia for a seven night stay. Enjoy a welcome drink before dinner at the hotel this evening. DAY 2 - We include a half day visit to see the delightful gardens at La Mortella, which are widely regarded as among the most beautiful in the world. The late English composer Sir William Walton and his wife, Susanna, made the island their home for almost fifty years, and between them they created the gardens. Wonderfully designed and landscaped, they overflow with exotic flowers and cascading fountains. DAY 3 - Relax or join our optional guided tour to help you get to know this beautiful island. Our tour features a visit to Aragonese Castle, a splendid 15th century edifice spectacularly situated atop a rocky island and the picturesque harbour town of Ischia Porto. DAY 4 - The volcanic activity that shaped the island left a legacy of numerous thermal spas. Our included full day excursion takes us to the wonderful thermal baths of Poseidon or Mogombo, where we can enjoy the sun terraces, swimming pools and Jacuzzis with choice of hot or cold water some even have a waterfall and fountains. DAY 5 - You can travel by ferry on our optional full day excursion to the wonderful island of Capri. During our guided tour, we will visit the villages of Capri and Anacapri, the Gardens of Caesar Augustus and see the Faraglioni Rocks. DAY 6 - We have included a half day boat trip to explore more of the delights of Ischia from the sea. DAY 7 - A leisurely day free to relax or explore at your own pace. Enjoy a farewell get-together this evening.
