Exotic and fascinating, no wonder Morocco is high on every travellers wish list. Discover the colonial charms of Casablanca and the allure of the ancient imperial cities of Fez, Meknes and Marrakech. Drive through the magnificent rocky Atlas Mountains, and eat a traditional dinner under Caidal tents entertained by folklore music and dancers.
YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1 - Meet your travelling companions in the executive lounge prior to your scheduled flight to Casablanca. On arrival, transfer to the hotel Rivoli or similar for an overnight stay. Welcome drink and dinner. DAY 2 - Join our included morning sightseeing tour of Casablanca. We visit the magnificent Hassan Great Mosque and stroll along the Ain Diab Corniche. After an included lunch, depart for Rabat, the old capital of Morocco where the King resides, to see the splendid Mohammed V mausoleum, the unfinished Hassan Tower, the Medina and the Oudaias Kasbah. We then continue to our Rabat hotel for an overnight stay. DAY 3 - We transfer to the railway station and travel first class to Meknes where we re-join the coach for a panoramic tour of this imperial city, including the monumental Khmiss Gate, the city walls and the Jewish Quarter. We continue to the sacred hilltop town of Moulay Idriss with free time for lunch. We drive on to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, before reaching Fez for a two night stay. DAY 4 - Today our included sightseeing tour of Fez, takes us to see the 9th Century Karaouline University, Nejjarine Fountain, Dar Batha Museum, the Tanneries and the Royal Palace. We stroll through the medina and the maze of souks selling everything from silver jewellery to mint tea! After an included lunch in the heart of the souk, we return to the hotel. After dinner this evening you can join an optional visit to a Folklore Show. DAY 5 - We drive up into the towering Atlas Mountains stopping en route at the Swiss style village of Ifrane, before reaching Midelt for an included lunch. After gradually descending to ErRachidia, we drive along the fertile Ziz valley to the oasis town of Erfoud on the edge of the desert for an overnight stay. DAY 6 - Early wake-up call for our included sunrise excursion in 4x4 off road vehicles to the great sand dunes at Merzouga, which mark the start of the vast Sahara desert. We take a camel ride to the top of the dunes to watch the sunrise. Then return to the hotel for breakfast before visiting the Maadid Ksaar of Erfoud for an insight into the lifestyle of the local people. We travel via Jorf village and Tinjdad to Tinghir for an included lunch. This afternoon we walk through the Todra Gorge, a dramatic narrow canyon with towering pink cliffs, before returning to Tinghir for an overnight stay. DAY 7 - Today we drive to Ouarzazate for an included lunch, before enjoying a photo stop at the fortified Berber village of Ait Ben Haddou. This afternoon we drive over the spectacular 7415ft Tiz-n-Tichka Pass to Marrakech for a three night stay. DAY 8 - Included morning sightseeing tour of Marrakech. We visit the Badia Palace, walk through the vibrant Jewish Quarter and spice markets to the Bahia Palace. Next we explore the colourful medina, souks, Djemma El Fna Square, which comes alive at sunset with various entertainers, and Koutoubia Mosque and gardens before returning to the hotel for an included lunch. Afternoon at leisure before dinner at the hotel this evening. DAY 9 - Free to relax or join our optional excursion to the attractive historic coastal town of Essaioura or Ourika Valley. This evening enjoy a farewell get-together Dinner and music Show under traditional Royal Caidal tents at Chez Ali Fantasia. DAY 10 - Transfer to Marrakech airport for your return flight to the UK (via Casablanca).
