Worldwide Namibia Sossusvlei Walvis bay Ruacana Falls Namibia 14 days from £2799 Come with us on an unforgettable journey to Namibia and discover a land of amazing contrasts from the rolling red sand dunes of the Namib Desert to beautiful Atlantic beach resorts and vast open plains with spectacular wildlife. As we have completely sold out our Namibia tour featured in our 2008 Worldwide brochure, we are delighted to offer this slightly longer and more comprehensive tour of this fascinating country. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Meet your travelling companions in the executive airport lounge and depart on your scheduled flight to Windhoek. DAY 2 - On arrival in Windhoek, we drive to our lodge in the Central Highlands for a two night stay. This afternoon we enjoy our first game drive to catch sight of antelope, zebra and giraffe in the lodges private game reserve. This evening we enjoy a welcome sundowner dinner on the terrace overlooking the African bush. DAY 3 - Relax and enjoy the lodges facilities, before our late afternoon game drive to spot white rhino with a stop to admire ancient rock carvings. DAY 4 - After breakfast we drive to the bustling market on the outskirts of Okahandja for a stroll around stalls selling wood carvings, baskets and pots made by the native Herero people. We continue to Tsumeb to visit the fascinating natural history museum and Lake Otjikoto, the countrys deepest lake, before reaching our lodge for a two night stay. DAY 5 - We make an early morning start for Etosha National Park, one of Africas finest game reserves, home to over a hundred different annimals including the endangered black rhino, zebra, wildebeest, oryx, springbok, elephants, lions, leopards and antelope. DAY 6 - Well pass prehistoric watercourses, grasslands and distant mountains and hopefully see desert elephant and springbok on our scenic drive across the plains of Damaraland via Outjo and the Otavi mountains for a two night stay in the shadow of the hauntingly beautiful Vingerklip. DAY 7 - Today we tour the area around Kamanjab and stop to see the way of life at a traditional village of the Himba tribe, one of the original people of the Kalahari area. DAY 8 - We visit the incredible rock carvings, paintings and bizarre rock formations called organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain in and around Twyfelfontein, before continuing for a two night stay in the charming coastal resort of Swakopmund. Once under German colonial rule, the restaurants and coffee shops still sell traditional schnitzel, breads, cakes and excellent beer. DAY 9 - Relax or join our optional excursion to Walvis Bay, a huge natural lagoon home to flamingos and many other wetland birds, for a morning cruise to Bird Island and the seal colony at Pelican Point. If we are lucky we may be accompanied by dolphins. DAY 10 - We travel into the Namib Desert and descend into Kuiseb Canyon with its stunning red sands, deep black gorges and green river banks. We cross the Tropic of Capricorn and see hardy desert ground squirrels, while vultures circle overhead, before reaching Sossusvlei for a two night stay. DAY 11 Relax before our late afternoon jeep safari to see the spectacular towering orange dunes with their curious desert wildlife. DAY 12 - We return to Windhoek, the Namibian capital, and enjoy a city tour of the historic forts and castles that overlook the city and the Tinten Palast, the seat of Namibias government. Tonight we meet up for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. DAYS 13 & 14 - Free in Windhoek, before the return overnight flight to the UK, arriving next day.
