tueSDaY 23rD - Meet your travelling companions at the airport prior to your scheduled flight to Ljubljana. On arrival we transfer to our hotel in Opatija for a five night stay. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner this evening. CHriStMaS eVe - We get to know Opatija on our included introductory walk. A popular holiday resort since the early 19th century, the town retains an unmistakable air of grandeur, with a lovely sea front promenade the Lungomare, marvellous gardens, marina, a good range of shops and a selection of bars and restaurants. Tonight join in our Christmas Eve celebrations at a special festive dinner with live music. CHriStMaS DaY - Today we include a fabulous full day excursion across the border into neighbouring Slovenia. Our first stop is Ljubljana, the delightful capital, with its medieval heritage and baroque old town. We continue to majestic Lake Bled, surrounded by mountain peaks and one of the most picturesque spots in Europe. Includes lunch. BoXinG DaY - You can enjoy a relaxing day or join our optional full day Istrian Discovery excursion. From the harbour and Roman ruins of Pula, we continue to Rovinj, a delightful resort on the Adriatic and move on to visit historic Porec. Then its inland to Pazin to explore the old town with its medieval fortress, before returning to Rabac via a traditional farm to sample some of the local produce, including ham, cheese, cakes and a glass or two of local wine. SaturDaY 27tH - Spend a leisurely day or blow the cobwebs away on our optional full day trip to the breathtaking Postojna Caves with their incredible grottos of stalactites and stalagmites. We drive on to the Lipica Stud Farm to see where the famous white Lipizzaner horses are bred. We will meet up for a farewell get-together this evening. SunDaY 28tH - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
