tueSDaY 23rD - Meet your travelling companions at the airport and depart on your scheduled flight to Naples. On arrival, we transfer to our hotel in the Sorrento area for a five night stay. Enjoy a welcome drink before dinner this evening. CHriStMaS eVe - You are free to relax or join our optional half day excursion to Pompeii for a guided tour of this famous Roman town, frozen in time when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD burying the entire area under a layer of hot ash. You can explore the fascinating collection of ruins and gain a remarkable insight into the last days of this doomed city. CHriStMaS DaY - Enjoy a leisurely start to Christmas Day before our included drive along the stunning coastline to the picturesque resort of Amalfi, its central square dominated by the spectacular Renaissance cathedral. We continue to the cliff-top town of Ravello - the jewel of the Naples coast and home to the wonderful gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo and breathtaking views of the dramatic coast below. BoXinG DaY - Today we enjoy an included visit to the bustling city of Naples for a guided panoramic tour of the historic palaces, piazzas and churches, with free time to shop for souvenirs before we return. SaturDaY 27tH - Spend a leisurely day or join our optional excursion and travel by ferry to the wonderful island of Capri where youll find of the villages of Capri and Anacapri, the Gardens of Caesar Augustus and the Faraglioni rocks. SunDaY 28tH - Today we leave the Sorrento Peninsula and travel south through the regions of Basilicata and Calabria to take the short ferry crossing to Messina on the island of Sicily. On arrival we transfer to our hotel in the Taormina area for a five night stay. MonDaY 29tH - We include a half day trip to the picturesque resort of Taormina, spectacularly situated on top of a cliff with panoramic views over the sea and Mount Etna. You can also visit the magnificent Greco-Roman Theatre (entrance extra). tueSDaY 30tH - Day at leisure, or join our optional full day tour to explore a wealth of architecture in Sicilys vibrant capital, Palermo. We will also visit the Massimo theatre and Monreale with its beautiful 16th century Benedictine abbey.

neW YearS eVe - You are free to relax or join our fascinating full day optional visit to historic Syracuse and the old town of Ortigia, where we will explore the Temple of Apollo and enjoy great views over Porto Grande harbour. This evening we will celebrate New Years Eve at a special dinner with live music and dancing until late. neW YearS DaY - Blow the cobwebs away on our included three-quarter excursion to Mount Etna, Europes highest volcano at a height of 10,000ft and Sicilys most famous attraction. If you dare, you can view the volcano from the highest point that is safely possible and be amazed at the breathtaking views (off road transport and a guide at extra cost). We will meet up this evening for a farewell get-together. friDaY 2nD JanuarY 2009 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Accommodation is in comfortable hotels with bar, restaurant and lift. Typical of the hotels we use are the three star Hotel Delle Palme located in the Sant Agata area, 2½ miles from Sorrento and the four star Hotel Ariston in Taormina, Sicily. All bedrooms feature private facilities, TV and telephone.
