MonDaY 21St - Meet your travelling companions at the airport and depart on your scheduled flight to Thessaloniki. On arrival we transfer to our hotel in Halkidiki for a seven night stay and are greeted with a welcome drink. MonDaY 22nD - Todays half day tour features an easy walk from the hotel through olive groves and pine forests, following the trail once used by collectors of the resin and honey for which this region is famous. We will visit the Monastery of Agios Pavlos, the church of Paul the Apostle up on the hill overlooking Elia beach and the dramatic large rock at Petros. If you have a good head for heights you can climb to the top, from where there are spectacular views over the Sithonia peninsula (approx. 4 hours walk). tueSDaY 23rD - We drive to Neos Marmaras for the start of our delightful walk through the forest to the once abandoned village of Parthenonas, a typical Macedonian settlement which has now been rebuilt (approx. 4 hours walk). CHriStMaS eVe - An easy walk today takes us to the beautiful natural harbour of Porto Koufo on the west coast. We follow farm and goat tracks to reach Kapros, the peninsulas southernmost peak. The area is rich in flora and fauna and we will have fine views of the precipitous cliffs along the coast. Tonight we will enjoy a festive dinner with live music back at the hotel. CHriStMaS DaY - We enjoy a topical walk on Christmas Day as we follow forest tracks on a circular route across the hill behind Nikiti to visit the small town of Agios Nikolaos, which translates as Santa Claus! (approx. 3 hours walk). BoXinG DaY - Todays walk starts from the resort of Sani and takes us along the red clay cliffs with beautiful views over the crystal clear Aegean Sea to Mount Olympus and Kissavos, past unspoiled beaches, to the fishing village of Siviri for a meze lunch in a seaside taverna (approx. 3 ½ hours walk). SaturDaY 27tH - We spend the day on an included excursion to Thessaloniki, the capital of Macedonia and one of the oldest cities in Europe. A guided sightseeing tour will show us such sights as the Church of St. Dimitrios, the archaeological museum and the ancient city walls, followed by lunch in a local taverna. We will meet up for a farewell get-together this evening.

Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks. Grade 1 Walks These are for anyone of any age. Plenty of rest stops and time to enjoy the local scenery with up to 4 hours walking a day, mostly on good paths but occasionally rough underfoot. Ascent less than 300m per day. Grade 2 Walks These are moderate, for anyone who is comfortable walking hills. Still plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery, however up to 5 hours walking a day on slightly more rugged terrain. Ascent less than 500m per day.
