YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1 - Meet your travelling companions at the airport and depart on your scheduled flight to Kathmandu. DAY 2 - On arrival transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. This evening there will be a welcome drink at the hotel. DAY 3 - Kathmandu typifies the vibrant culture of Nepal. This morning we include a half day tour of this remarkable city, a deeply spiritual place. The bustling streets are surrounded by reminders of Kathmandu's history, overlaid with the frenetic pace of modern life. Temples, stupas and palaces abound, and we visit a few of the most famous, including the Temple of the Living Goddess and the 2,000-year-old Stupa of Swayambhunath. Thought to be the oldest of Kathmandu's temples, Swayambhunath's splendid golden spire, with its piercing eyes, has become a familiar symbol the city. At the heart of Kathmandu is Durbar Square, where we find the ancient Palace of the Kings of Nepal. We will also see the current Royal Palace. This afternoon we include a visit Pashupatinath, which is among Nepal's holiest Hindu sites and Boudhnath, one of the largest stupas in the world. DAY 4 - Optional Everest flight early this morning (subject to weather conditions, generally available OctNov). Transfer to Pokhara for a two night stay. DAY 5 - Weather permitting, you will enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna mountain range. Snow-clad peaks and snow-fed lakes make the valley of Pokhara one of the most picturesque natural attractions in the world. Here, the pace slows down and you can relax and enjoy some of this wonderful country's magnificent scenery. Included half day tour of Pokhara, with a boat ride on Lake Phewa. DAY 6 - Morning flight to Kathmandu. Transfer to Dhulikhel for two nights' accommodation. A stop will be made en route at Bhadgaon, city of devotees. DAY 7 - Free to explore Dhulikhel at leisure. Dhulikhel offers breathtaking views over the Himalayas. Many of the houses in the area have beautifully carved wooden structures around their doors and windows. Optional guided walks available. DAY 8 - Morning free to explore further. Afternoon transfer to Kathmandu for an overnight stay. This evening there will be a farewell get-together. DAY 9 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK, for arrival the same day.
YOUR HOTELS
You will stay in good, tourist grade hotels, the Hotel Himalaya in Kathmandu and the Pokhara Grande in Pokhara. Hotel facilities include bar, restaurant and swimming pool. All rooms feature private facilities, aircon, TV and telephone. In Dhulikhel you will stay at the Shangri-la Resort, hotel rooms feature private facilities, hotel includes a restaurant and bar.
ALTITUDE
During this tour you will travel to altitudes of over 5,500ft. This should not be a problem, although everyone should take it easy at first. If you suffer from heart or respiratory conditions or have any other concerns please consult your doctor.
