YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1 Meet your travelling companions at the airport and depart on your scheduled flight to Malaga. On arrival transfer to your hotel in Lanjaron for a seven night stay. Welcome drink on arrival. DAYS 2 TO 7 Free to relax and join our walks and excursions. We have left a day free for you to explore Lanjaron. In the western Alpujarras, the town is considered to be the gateway to the region. It is famous for its mineral water which is sold throughout Spain and the curative powers of it spa waters. You can walk up to explore the ruined Moorish castle Y overlooking the town and relax in the bars and restaurants along the main street known as the Avenida de Andalucia. The following walks and excursions are included: Poqueira Gorge & Villages walk - A walk through the k mountain villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira. We follow the path to the river Poqueira for breathtaking views across the gorge (distance: 7km/4.4 miles, approx. 3½ hours' walk). Afternoon tasting of the delicious jamon de trevelez. Nerja & Salobreña - We visit the coastal resort of Nerja with its delightful old town in the shadow of the Sierra Almijara Mountains. We include entrance to the Nerja Caves, where ancient wall paintings and artefacts have been discovered. In the afternoon we continue to Salobreña. Orgiva Market - A morning visit to Orgiva's traditional weekly market. Soportujar to Cañar or to Lanjaron walk - We transfer by k coach to Soportujar and enjoy a scenic walk through the picturesque scenery of the Alpujarras region (2 or 5 hours' walk; 2 hours Soportujar to Cañar, 6km, 3¾ miles, grade 2. 5 hours Soportujar to Lanjaron, 15km, 9 miles, grade 3). Granada & the Alhambra Palace - A full day excursion to explore the architectural treasures of Granada. We include a guided walking tour of the city and a visit to the world famous Alhambra Palace (entrance included). This Moorish citadel is an impressive reminder of Granada's historic past and includes the Gereralife, the summer palace with its fountains and gardens. At its heart stands the massive Palace of Charles V, an outstanding example of Spanish Renaissance architecture and on the hillside opposite is the old Moorish casbah or

Lecrin Valley walk - A scenic walk through the picturesque k villages of Acequias, Murchas and Melegis, past lemon and orange groves (distance: 10km, 6¼ miles, approx 4 hours' walk). In the afternoon we visit a local bodega at Conchar to sample some of the area's fine wine. On the final evening there will be a farewell barbecue. DAY 8 Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

YOUR HOTELS
Y You will stay in the three star Hotel Alcadima, located in the traditional town of Lanjaron. The hotel boasts magnificent views and has a lounge, bar, restaurant, breakfast room, terrace and outdoor swimming pool. There is also a small fitness room, sauna, massage and spa bath (at extra cost). All bedrooms feature private facilities, TV, telephone, fridge, safety deposit box and hairdryer. There will be a traditional Spanish music night on one evening plus a Flamenco show.

WALKING INFORMATION

Our walks require a reasonable level of fitness and ideally some previous walking experience. You will Y need comfortable walking boots, a small rucksack, waterproofs, a hat and sunglasses. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks. Grade 2 Walks These are moderate, for anyone who is comfortable walking hills. Still plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery, however up to 5 hours walking a day on slightly more rugged terrain. Ascent less than 500m per day. Grade 3 Walks These are more strenuous, for the more accomplished hill walker. More continuous stretches of trekking totaling about 5 hours a day, often in mountainous terrain where paths can be steep. Ascent up to 1000m per day.
