Pretty as a picture, the Algarve region of Portugal is an ideal destination for a relaxing break with plenty of superb sightseeing opportunities. Enjoying a warm climate and with wonderful views over sparkling seas and sand, your Portuguese paradise awaits.
We have chosen the delightful resort of Praia da Rocha, located just over a mile from the historical town of Portimão towards the western part of the Algarve coastline. Positioned on a clifftop, it overlooks one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, lapped by calm waters. This cosmopolitan resort has a long promenade lined with shops, bars and restaurants. Best of the East - An interesting and relaxing full day to the east of the Algarve beginning with a visit to Faro, the capital of the Algarve. We include a walking tour of the old town followed by free time to explore further or enjoy some shopping. We then drive along the scenic national park towards Tavira, as yet an unspoilt gem with its beautiful river linking the two sides of the town lined with attractive houses and flower-filled balconies. Visit the old church and castle and enjoy the lovely views certainly a day to remember.On the final evening there will be a farewell get-together. DAY 8 Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1 Meet your travelling companions at the airport and depart on your scheduled flight to Faro. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in Praia da Rocha for a seven night stay. Enjoy a welcome drink before dinner at a local restaurant. DAYS 2 TO 7 Free to enjoy our excursion programme. The following excursions are included: Lagos & Sagres - A full day tour featuring a scenic drive to the cliffs of Cape St Vincent, the most south-westerly point of Europe, offering stunning views of the coast and known as `the end of the world'. We continue to Sagres with its picturesque small harbour followed by a visit to the cosmopolitan town of Lagos to discover the history of Henry the Navigator, one of Portugal's famous explorers. Albufeira - A relaxing half day tour to one of the Algarve's most popular resorts. Take a stroll through the bustling old town with its pretty square and then walk to the beach to see the working fishing boats. The following excursions are optional: Loule Market - A half day tour to Loule, a lively city where the attractive streets and historic buildings combine to offer a modern feel. Enjoy the atmosphere of the market and shop for bargains, especially shoes, wickerwork and clothes. Take time to relax with a coffee on a tree-lined avenue and simply watch the world go by. Silves & Monchique - Experience a different side to the Algarve by leaving the coast and venturing inland to visit the picturesque town of Silves, the original capital of the Algarve. Once a Moors' stronghold it has a beautiful cathedral and the restored ruins of the old castle are well worth a visit. Explore the old cobbled streets before continuing to Monchique to visit the Algarve's highest peak with far reaching views of the Algarve. Return down the mountain road to your hotel.
YOUR HOTELS
The comfortable three star Hotel Luar enjoys a cliff top setting on the edge of Praia da Rocha, with wonderful views over the sea. Facilities include a bar, TV room, outdoor swimming pool, garden, reading room and snack bar. Bedrooms are comfortably furnished and feature private facilities, minibar, TV and telephone. Breakfast and dinner are included throughout with dinner taken in a local restaurant. Sea view rooms are available at a supplement of £30 per person.
