Enjoy great socialising with your travelling companions and a real taste of Italy on this marvellous new holiday. Discover the delights of Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, birthplace of Parmesan cheese, Bolognese sauce, tortellini pasta, Parma ham and Lambrusco wine. With a fantastic blend of superb food, wonderful wines and fabulous sightseeing opportunities in Bologna and Florence you have all the ingredients for a real treat.
YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1 Meet your travelling companions at the airport and depart on your scheduled flight to Bologna. On arrival transfer to your hotel in Tolè, 20 miles south of Bologna, for a four night stay. Welcome drinks and appetizers before dinner this evening. DAY 2 Enjoy our included full day excursion, starting with an introduction to the village of Tolè. We then visit the Santa Lucia dairy to see how the famous Parmesan cheese is made. After a visit to an old restored water mill we continue to medieval Bologna in time for a typical lunch of homemade tortellini pasta at a local restaurant. This afternoon our guided tour will show you the sights of the wonderful `red' city, such as the San Petronio cathedral, the two towers and the gallerie arcades. You will then have free time to explore Y further. Piazza Maggiore is the ideal starting point for your exploration. DAY 3 Included three-quarter day Countryside and Castles excursion. Passing vineyards and fertile fields, we explore Monteveglio with its medieval abbey and the pretty local areas of Castello di Serravalle and Vignola and their castles. We include a tasting of wine and local produce at Beghellis Farm, plus there's a visit to a museum of rural life. Free time for lunch in Vignola before visiting an acetaia to see how balsamic vinegar is produced, followed by a tasting of the finished product with cheese and even ice cream! Special farmhouse dinner this evening at the La Fenice agriturismo restaurant. DAY 4 Join our optional excursion to the delightful ``Art City' of Florence. From Piazzale Michelangelo, which offers wonderful views of the city across the River Arno, we then take you on a guided walking tour to see some of the famous sights, including the Duomo (cathedral) and the Ponte Vecchio bridge. We have lunch at a typical Florentine restaurant and the afternoon is free to discover more, perhaps to visit a local market. Dinner and farewell get-together in the hotel this evening. DAY 5 Time to say "arrivederci" and transfer to the airport for " your return flight to the UK.
