USA & Canada Canada Toronto Quebec City Grand Canadian Rail Adventure Halifax to Vancouver 17 days from £2819 This superb holiday features some of the greatest sights of Canada. From the dramatic Atlantic coastline of Nova Scotia, via Montreal and Quebec City, Canadas capital Ottawa, Toronto and the breathtaking Rockies to cosmopolitan Vancouver. Your itinerArY DAY 1 - Meet your travelling companions in the executive lounge prior to your scheduled flight to Halifax, Canada. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. Enjoy a welcome drink this evening. DAY 2 - Included full day tour along Nova Scotias historic south shore to Lunenburg. Continue to picture-postcard Peggys Cove on the rugged Atlantic shoreline. DAY 3 - Late morning departure on The Ocean VIA Rail train. You will travel through the night along the old Intercolonial Railway (ICR) route via New Brunswick and rural Quebec to Montreal. DAY 4 - Morning arrival in Montreal. This bustling city is dominated by Mount Royal and boasts wonderful parks, cobbled streets and great shops. We include a sightseeing tour, prior to transferring to your hotel for a two night stay. DAY 5 - Today we include a full day excursion to Quebec City to see the Citadelle, Château Frontenac and the Plains of Abraham, scene of the decisive battle between the French and British for control of Canada in 1759. DAY 6 - Depart Montreal for the drive to Ottawa. We see the main attractions of Canadas capital before continuing along the shores of Lake Ontario to Toronto for a two night stay at the Delta Chelsea or similar. DAY 7 - Today we include a Toronto sightseeing tour, featuring the Sky Dome, City Hall and Parliament Building. Optional ride to the top of the CN Tower for terrific views. Continue this afternoon to Niagara Falls. For the most dramatic views join an optional trip on the Maid of the Mist (operates mid-May to mid-Oct) or take a thrilling helicopter ride. DAY 8 - Full day at leisure to enjoy the shops of the impressive Eaton Centre or do more sightseeing before transferring to the train station to board VIA Rails Canadian train for the journey to Jasper. We have included an evening meal in Toronto prior to boarding the train. DAY 9 - Our journey takes us through southern Ontario, and across the vast prairies. Overnight on the train. DAY 10 - We arrive in Winnipeg this morning. The train will be stationary until the afternoon so stretch your legs and visit the Forks National Historic Site with its array of quaint shops. Continue through Manitoba and Saskatchewan today. DAY 11 - We arrive in Edmonton this morning and your gateway to the Rockies, before reaching Jasper midafternoon. Transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. DAY 12 - Today we include a trip on the Whistler Fly from your local airport Mountain Aerial Tramway and a visit to Maligne Lake, the largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies. DAY 13 - Depart from Jasper and travel over the Yellow Head Pass and around Mount Robson. Continue south to rejoin the Trans-Canada highway to Kamloops for an overnight stay. DAY 14 - Continue across British Columbia through the rugged Fraser Canyon to Vancouver for a two night stay. Vancouver boasts one of the most beautiful cityscapes in the world, sandwiched between the Pacific and majestic mountains. DAY 15 - This morning we include an introductory tour of the city, featuring Chinatown, Gas Town, Stanley Park, and the harbour. Optional afternoon excursion to the Northshore, featuring the Capilano Suspension Bridge and a cable car ride up Grouse Mountain for breathtaking views. In the evening enjoy a farewell dinner and drink. DAY 16 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. DAY 17 - Arrival in the UK. Your HotelS You will stay in the Delta Halifax Hotel in Halifax, the Hotel Maritime in Montreal, the Amethyst Lodge in Jasper, the Thomson Hotel in Kamloops and the Quality Hotel or Best Western Downtown in Vancouver. Hotel facilities include restaurant and bar. All rooms feature private facilities, TV, telephone and air-conditioning.
