3 NIGHTS KIGALI: 2 NIGHTS VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK: 1 NIGHT
If time permits a short visit to the beautiful Bulera and Ruhondo lakes follows before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. DAY 4 After breakfast re-enter the park for a second trek visiting a different gorilla family. The Rwandan side of the park is home to four families ranging in size from 9 to 38 members. After lunch return to Kigali in the afternoon where you will stay overnight at Novotel Umubano or Kigali Serena. DAY 5 Transfer back to the airport for your overnight Kenya Airways flight to Heathrow via Nairobi.

This safari includes: Accommodation in medium class (standard option) or first class (superior option) hotels in Kigali and a medium class guest lodge in the national park Transport by minibus or 4x4 jeep English speaking guide from Day 2 to Day 5 Sightseeing and trekking as per detailed itinerary All park fees and permits Mineral water while trekking GRATUITIES: We recommend tipping your driver/guide at the end of your safari TRAVEL TIPS: Pack warm clothes, raincoat, hiking boots, thick trousers and long sleeve tops. TREKKING: The Gorilla habitats are at an altitude of between 11,500 and 14,500 feet. Trekking can be arduous and uncomfortable due to high humidity levels and altitude with treks of up to three hours before your first encounter. It is essential that participants have a good level of general fitness. MINIMUM AGE: 16 and over.
DAY 1
Kenya Airways overnight flight to Kigali via Nairobi.
DAY 2
On arrival you are transferred to the Novotel Umubano (standard option) or the Kigali Serena Hotel (superior option) where you will receive a detailed briefing of your trek and meet your guide before dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
After an early breakfast, drive approx. ninety minutes north west through beautiful countryside to Ruhengeri, the main base town for gorilla trekking. A short briefing by the National Park guides follows then you enter the park in search of these magnificent creatures. The park is home to around 300 mountain gorillas and is dominated by bamboo forests, grasslands and giant lobelias. After spending a maximum of one hour with the gorillas lunch is taken at Gorillas Nest Lodge, situated at the base of Mount Sabyinyo with an attractive alpine façade.

DAY 5
On arrival in Nairobi connect with your Kenya Airways flight to Mombasa for four nights in a Standard room at the Leopard Beach Resort & Spa (Standard option p164) or the Serena Beach hotel in a Garden room (Superior option p165).
DAY 9
Return to Heathrow flying Kenya Airways overnight via Nairobi.
