INTRODUCTION
KRUGER & SURROUNDS
see & do
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK The park has a truly rich and diverse selection of bird and animal life and this, combined with its size makes it one of the world's best game reserves. The most popular times to visit are in the dry winter months of July and August when the temperatures are lower and the animals search out water holes. However in quieter months there is no less to see, trees and flowers are in bloom and birds are plentiful as well as the added bonus of fewer people! Game is pretty evenly spread out across the park although what you see will be determined by the landscape. BLYDE RIVER CANYON & PANORAMA ROUTE The Blyde River has driven its way through the mountains to form a spectacular canyon, the third largest in the world and offers some fantastic views across the surrounding landscape and the river as it winds across country.
The area, known as the Panorama Route, is simply stunning and is well worth a day trip or longer. There are a number of walking trails which will take you through lush countryside which abounds with flowers and ferns. It is simply breathtaking and a must for lovers of nature. SELF DRIVE There is no better way of making the most of the destination than with the freedom of your own self drive car. Stopping off when you choose and never missing that perfect photo opportunity or the chance to pick up a souvenir. Driving in South Africa is pretty straightforward outside of city locations with a good standard of roads and well signposted attractions. Follow marked routes or head off the beaten track the choice is yours and the best part about driving in South Africa is that they drive on the left too!
