Travel transcends borders and brings us together, creating a melting pot of vibrant countries and cultures. Over 900 million of us travel every year, and here at Kuoni we're committed to looking after the diverse peoples and eco-systems of our many incredible destinations. Here are some of the projects we support.
Pr eservinG our destinations
Choose a sustainable hotel ... In order to promote sustainability at our destinations, Kuoni is working closely with the Travelife Sustainability System. Hotels that take on environmental and social responsibility are awarded the Travelife Gold, Silver or Bronze Awards. This means that resources such as energy and water are used carefully, waste is minimised and goods are purchased from local producers. Equally important is the fair treatment of employees and an intensive dialogue with the local community. Through Travelife, we offer you the opportunity to select sustainable hotels at your chosen destination. As you leaf through this catalogue, look for the Travelife logo:
child Protection
Travel respectfully ... Kuoni is committed to preserving the natural environment and biodiversity of tourist destinations, such as supporting projects to protect coral reefs in Egypt and the Maldives. By acting respectfully towards the people and the nature at your destination, you too can contribute to the long term preservation of your holiday paradise. More information visit www.kuoni-group.com/ corporate+responsibility. Don't turn a blind eye... More than two million children and adolescents are affected by child sex tourism. Kuoni has signed the international Child Protection Code (www.thecode.org) and is committed to combating this crime. Look and see what is going on... don't turn a blind eye. If something looks suspicious and points to child sexual exploitation, report it to the hotel management, your travel agent, your embassy, the local police or the police in your home country.
clim ate Protection
Compensate the emissions from your flight... Climate change is among the most urgent challenges of our time, so projects that help prevent global warming are more important than ever. The Kuoni composting project in Bali ensures greenhouse gas emissions are avoided and waste is reduced, as well as creating jobs and value compost agriculture. Even with a small fee, you too can support this innovative project and compensate the CO2 emissions of your flight. http://kuoni.myclimate.org/e Prices for emission compensation through myclimate: Short haul £4-18 Mid-haul £18-70 Long haul £70-123
