DAY 5
After a final morning to explore Beijing, transfer to the airport for your afternoon Air China flight to Xi'an and two nights at either the first class Grand Mercure (p76) or the deluxe Shangri-La Golden Flower (p77). Xi'an is home to the awe-inspiring Terracotta Warriors and these can be visited on our full day tour. We also recommend that you prebook the Tang Dynasty show, an evening of traditional entertainment and dinner.
DAY 1
Overnight British Airways flight from Heathrow to Beijing. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the first class Novotel Peace (p71) or the deluxe ShangriLa (p72) for three nights. There is plenty to see in the country's capital and we recommend that you prebook one of our experiences. In addition to our Beijing City and Great Wall of China experiences, why not try something a little different with a Rickshaw Tour of the Hutong District. From the comfort of your two-seater rickshaw, take a fun and informative tour to discover the traditional narrow lanes and shops of a bygone era, albeit just minutes away from central Beijing. In the evening treat yourself to a visit to the Peking Opera or enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner.
DAY 7
Morning Air China flight to the bustling metropolis of Shanghai for three nights at the first class Sofitel Hyland (p83) or the deluxe Pudong Shangri-La (p85). With almost three full days to explore the ancient and modern in Shanghai there is plenty of time to relax, shop and see the sights. Our prebookable full day Shanghai City Tour covers the central Shanghai Museum, a relaxing stroll along the ornate Bund, then after lunch visit the Old Town and Yu Garden. We would also recommend our evening trip to an amazing acrobatic show.
DAY 5
This morning, transfer to the airport for your China Eastern Airlines flight to Xi'an, with two nights at the first class Grand Mercure (p76) or the deluxe Shangri-La Golden Flower (p77). Xi'an is foremost recognised as home to one of the most famous wonders of Chinese civilisation, the awe-inspiring Terracotta Warriors. This historic city delights with unmissable attractions, magnificent museums and a vibrant Muslim Quarter, all included in our prebookable experiences.
DAY 10
Transfer to the airport for your China Southern Airlines evening flight to Sanya, China's premier beach resort. You will be met on arrival and transferred to the Marriott Resort (p65) for five nights. Warm turquoise waters lap pristine white sand beaches; there is no better place to relax after your stay in China's hectic cities.
DAY 8
Lunchtime Dragonair flight to Hong Kong. Transfer to the first class Excelsior (p104) or deluxe Kowloon Shangri-La (p104) for a three night stay. Perhaps take a Hong Kong Island Tour which lifts you high above the island to Victoria Peak, past picturesque Repulse Bay and the floating community of Aberdeen fishing village. There is time to shop at Stanley Market before you return to your hotel early afternoon.
DAY 15
Today spend the few last hours relaxing before your evening Dragonair flight to Hong Kong connecting with your overnight Cathay Pacific flight to Heathrow.
