The world's third longest river is lined with breathtaking cliffs, dramatic peaks, rushing waters and serene plains.
yangtze cruises
dramatic & serene
From deep within the snow covered mountains of Tanggula on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau emerges the lifeblood of China, a feared yet famed river that twists and turns for 3,900 miles across seven provinces before melting into the deeper waters of the East China Sea north of Shanghai. It has long been the inspiration for many of China's poets and painters and its spectacular natural scenery, from the soaring peaks of the Three Gorges to the fertile plains of its downstream lowlands continues to amaze and beguile today.
in a word
There can be few greater river cruises than one along the mighty Yangtze, such is the depth of its outstanding natural beauty. Although the river extends for a colossal 3,900 miles, generally the section between Chongqing and Yichang is the most popular. Here the Three Gorges slice their way through the mountainous topography, leaving an unforgettable trail of natural wonder in their wake. At their conclusion stands the imperious Three Gorges Dam, a marvel of modern construction techniques that is becoming as much an attraction as the Gorges themselves. Most visitors choose to sail downstream on a three night, four day itinerary, however upstream cruises covering the same natural and man-made landmarks include extra nights sailing at minimal additional cost. 54 Cruises operate along the Yangtze River between March and late November and we have chosen President Cruises as our Superior First Class cruise partner and the American owned and operated Victoria Cruises as our Deluxe partner. Each Yangtze cruiser includes a wide range of facilities with regular entertainment on board and comfortable, modern accommodation. A high ratio of English speaking crew ensure a pleasant cruise and their excursions along the way both inform and delight in equal measure.
