Azure waters and stunning corals are the signatures of the coastal towns and resorts of the Red Sea. red sea resorts relaxing & diving An inlet of the Indian Ocean between Africa and Asia the seemingly endless Red Sea shores of Egypt, are a haven of relaxation, an under water paradise rich in marine life and home to the many oases of activities, bars and restaurants that spring to life amidst the barren desert and mountainscapes. in a word Occupying a part of the Great Rift Valley, the Red Sea is approximately 1,200 miles long and, at its widest point, over 190 miles wide. 8,200 feet in the central median trench and with an average depth of 1,640 feet the Red Sea also has extensive shallow shelves, noted for their marine life and corals. The sea is the habitat of over 1,000 invertebrate species and 200 soft and hard corals. The Red Sea is amongst the most beautiful settings weve seen and contrary to its name the seas shades of azure, cyan and turquoise are simply stunning. Despite Egypts great history many of the Red Sea resort are devoid of significant history and antiquity. The exception to this is the small town of Al-Qusair or El Quseir, an Egyptian city lying along the Red Sea south of Hurghada, steeped in 5000 years of history. This small and quaint place is definitely worth exploring and is perfect for those in search of relaxation. The resorts, of Ain Soukhna, El Gouna, Hurghada, Sahl Hasheesh, Soma Bay and Sharm El Sheikh are modern resorts offering visitors a wealth of facilities, bars and restaurants, not to mention some of the best hotels in the world. 36
