weather Information is supplied by the Meteorological Office, local tourist offices and other sources and is given as a guide only. Our Sales team is happy to advise on weather trends as many of the destinations featured in this brochure have a tropical climate where heavy rainfall and strong winds (sometimes hurricane force) do occur at certain times of the year, however world weather patterns are now becoming more and more erratic resulting in unusual rainfall, storms and even floods. Most people go on holiday to spend time in the sunshine and although adverse weather conditions can be very frustrating Kuoni cannot assume any responsibility for the statistical information provided opposite, nor accept liability to make refunds or pay compensation for alternative arrangements, damage to property or curtailed holidays as a result of such conditions. For your visa enquiries on the indicated destinations please contact the Kuoni Travel Visa Service on visa@kuoni.co.uk, tel 020 7616 1050 or fax 020 7723 3449. USA requirements The US Government has reinforced their entry regulations making some important changes which are now in effect: All passports must be machine readable ie: red passports. If you still have an old blue passport you will need to obtain a visa before travelling, or apply for a new passport. NB: Some passports issued by British Consular posts abroad may not be machine readable please check with the UK Passport Service on 0870 521 0410 or www.passport.gov.uk for further information. Also applicable to passengers in transit in the US. The US Govt now requires all passengers entering the US to provide details of their country of residence, as well as full postal address of the first US hotel. This information is currently being collected by the airline upon check-in. The airline will also collect details of your passport number and country of issue, citizenship, full names as they appear on your passport, gender and date of birth, all of which is obtained by swiping your passport at the check-in desk. US Customs will not allow entry to anyone with incorrect papers. All British passport holders will be required to complete a USA waiver form on the aircraft. For all non British passport holders including British subjects should check with the relevant Embassy at the earliest opportunity for the latest information. There are certain exceptions where British passport holders do require a visa for entering the USA, which must be obtained prior to travel. For full advice on this please visit the US embassy website on www.usembassy.org.uk or phone 09042 450100. holiday money direct to your door Order your foreign currency from us and we can deliver it direct to your door, or you can collect it at the airport. We offer this service in conjunction with Currency Express and all details are available from our team (number as above) or on our website at www.kuoni.co.uk under Travel Extras. It's so simple, so easy to do and so much more convenient than going to the bank. car hire information Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) In Florida CDW is optional, and gives you extra cover for damage to the rental vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. We strongly recommend you take CDW, which is included in both our optional Comprehensive and Alamo Gold packages, as without it you could be charged up to the full replacement cost of the car. CDW can be paid for locally at the rental counter for approximately US$20 per car per day. Local/State Taxes Local taxes such as airport user fees, where applicable, must be paid for locally (except when you pre-purchase our optional Alamo packages). The rate of tax varies by location but is usually between 6-13% of the cost of the rental (approx. US$5-US$15 per car per week according to car group). In Florida there is an additional State car rental surcharge of US$2.05 per car per day. Third Party Protection Alamo provides limited third party liability cover of US$20,000 in Florida and up to US$50,000 in some other States. Although this is included in your Rental-Only basis package, it could well leave you financially exposed in the event of a claim against you. Liability Coverage (Extended Protection EP) $1 million Liability Coverage (Extended Protection EP). EP provides you with up to US$1,000,000 third party liability coverage and $100,000 for uninsured motorist protection (UMP) for the renter and any family member related by blood, marriage or adoption. For your peace of mind and financial protection EP is included in our Alamo Comprehensive and Alamo Gold rental packages. Deposit A deposit of US$100 per car per week is payable on collection of your car to cover taxes, petrol and other incidentals. A major credit card can be used, but must be in the same name as the driver. Driver Requirements The minimum age for all drivers is 21. Drivers between 21 and 24 inclusive there is a surcharge of US$25 per underage driver per day payable locally. Drivers additional to the renter will be surcharged at US$10 per driver per day, payable locally unless you prepurchase the Alamo Gold package when up to three drivers are included. All drivers must be in possession of a valid driving licence from their country of residence. Child Seat Child and Infant seats are required by law for children 5 years and under (not suitable for infants under 9 months) and must be requested in advance. The charge for an infant seat is US$6.99 per day, payable locally. A refundable deposit of US$50 is also payable. Please note that an infant seat will take up an additional seat space. Fuel A full tank of fuel is provided and must be paid for at the time of collection (approx. $30 for economy $70 for minivan), unless you purchase the Alamo Gold package. No refund will be given for fuel purchased but not used. Driving Areas Cars can be driven in any States of the USA and in Canada but USA originating rentals must be returned to an Alamo location in the USA. One Way Rentals One way rentals must be confirmed in advance and are free within Florida. One way rentals are not available with an ECAR or EDAR car. Rental Period Rentals are based on 24 hour periods from the time you collect your car. For example if you collect your car at 6 pm on Saturday and have booked 7 days rental, you must return your car before 6 pm the following Saturday. Late returns will be charged at the daily local rate. Car Collection and Return Cars must be picked up and dropped off at the car rental depot. Cars cannot be delivered to hotels. health, safety & security abroad We take the safety and security of our clients extremely seriously. If the Foreign Office advises that people should not visit a particular country, then we would act on this and reserve the right to cancel your holiday. However we are sure you appreciate from press and television coverage that the political, economic and social conditions in many of the countries we feature in this brochure are not as stable as we are used to in Europe. Sadly crimes against both people and their property are a fact of life the world over, and when in a foreign country it is very important to be extra vigilant and avoid drawing attention to yourself by wearing expensive jewellery, carrying expensive camera equipment etc. Travellers have the same responsibility for their personal safety and that of their possessions, as they do at home. Kuoni holidays operate to many parts of the world, some of which do not conform to British health and safety standards. We request that all hotels comply with the local regulations applicable in their country for health and safety but we cannot guarantee that these meet British standards and therefore urge that you undertake reasonable precautions to protect your family and yourself whilst on holiday. To make the most of your trip abroad, check out the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website at www.fco.gov.uk/travel. Packed with essential travel advice and tips, this website offers a wealth of country-specific information that only the FCO can provide. Foreign Office advice is also displayed on BBC2 (Ceefax) page 470 onwards or you may wish to contact the Foreign Office Travel Advice Unit on 0845 850 2829. flying times The times given in this brochure are approximate and based on outbound flights. They may vary depending on flight schedules, type of aircraft, weather conditions etc., and are indications of the hours spent actually flying (excluding time on the ground during stops en route or when changing aircraft). Where no figures are shown, we do not offer direct or same-day connecting flights. hotel & resort classification Choosing the right hotel can be a dilemma, especially when travelling to long haul destinations and whilst most have official star rating locally in some of the off the beaten track locations, official rating can not always be relied on. Subsequently we have graded the holiday accommodation throughout the brochure as follows: Simple Medium Class Medium Class First Class Superior First Class Deluxe Two star Three star Four star Four star plus Five Star health & vaccinations Health facilities, hygiene and disease risk vary worldwide. You should take health advice about your specific needs as early as possible and ensure that vaccinations or preventative measures such as malaria tablets are taken early enough (which may be a month or more prior to departure) to be fully effective by the date of travel. Sources of information include the Department of Health free leaflet `Health advice for travellers' (available on request Tel. 0800 555 777), your General Practitioner or a specialist clinic. The advice given in respect of vaccinations was correct at the time of going to press (April 2007). However, for more detailed information we would strongly recommend you contact your GP or one of the specialist vaccination centres immediately. holiday insurance This is a vital part of any holiday so please ensure you take out travel insurance with full cancellation cover. Details of the Kuoni insurance may be found on page 103 including: Free children's insurance No upper age limit Scuba diving coverage passports & visas We can only advise of the requirements for British and Irish passport holders. For British and Irish passports endorsed in any way and all other passport holders, requirements should be checked with the relevant embassy. You should ensure that you have a valid ten year passport and, as many countries require expiry dates on passports to be a considerable length of time after the return from holiday, we would recommend that your passport is valid for 6 months after return to the UK. Many countries including USA now require children to hold their own passports and additional countries are adopting this policy on an ongoing basis. We therefore recommend that all children travel on full passports. free parking & up to 40% off uk airport hotels Why not get your holiday off to a relaxed start or finish?
