In contrast to the splendour of Phnom Penh's ancient and regal monuments your morning visit to Toul Sleng provides an insight into Cambodia's more recent history. Once a prison and torture house of the Khmer Rouge this former school now provides a grisly reminder of life under this genocidal government. This afternoon visit the National Museum to learn about the origins of the Khmer nation and enjoy a short visit to Wat Ounalam before moving on to the Silver Pagoda, Phnom Penh's glittering Royal Palace and Wat Phnom. This fascinating temple dates back to the 14th Century and is the founding structure and namesake of this royal city. Cambodia
